Looks very much like coca cola. Might have some carbonation issues. Color is black with little tan head. Smell has some coffee, sweetness, and other stuff. Tastes decent, very simple- not a lot of flavor. What they did put into this seems like they didn't put enough because i'm not tasting a lot of flavor. Not much after taste. It is smooth which a cream stout should be. But the mouthfill is kind of watery, not thick like a stout should be. Not sure if there was a carbonation issue on this one...seems kind of flat. Just not doing it for me, not enough flavor or thickness for my likeing.

Upon first sip, this seems similar to Dick's Lava Rock Porter but this stout is actually milder. At close to room temperature, this beer opened up pretty well, but it was less robust than the porter as well as having less roastiness, less fruitiness, and a more watery mouthfeel. There's a tiny ring of head and not much lace, very different than the picture on the website and what some other reviewers have said. The aroma has some interesting flavors: grain with a hint of animal feed. There's some chocolate and coffee in the taste, and again a paler-tasting grain quality with very little in the way of hops. Fortunately Dick's yeast doesn't get in the way either. The mouthfeel may be thin for a stout, and not really creamy either, but I thought it was fine. Could make for a decent session beer or a midday respite, but not a beer to genuinely engage the drinker.

Very dark color, close to opaque on the pour. Thin brown head and spread-out dotty laces. There a touch of expired milk sourness to the aroma, along with a trace of coffee. Body is on the thin side but the maltiness is decently complex, slight chocolate, java oiliness, and some sweet cherry. Becomes more astringent late in the flavor profile, but finishes with adequate bittering. OK beer, what it lacks is a creamier body and mouthfeel and it comes off as too sharp early in the taste for me.

A: sooty black, not an gleam of light in this one. No good icing on the top as it fizzled away rather quickly. Lace was crusty and meager. Poured more like a porter

S: barley flakes, grains, malts, and definite cocoa and chocolates (fudge even)

T: mild to dark flavors all around with the grains and roasted malts. Dainty faded coffee tones and a slight bitter chocolate and fudge finish in the mix. Towards the finish I was feeling a warm and sugary lactose vibe

M: finishes just dry and almost smokey. Body is soft, but I would not go as far as to call it creamy. Body is not to par for what I like in a cream stout....not enough chunk

D: decent showing for a stout and worthy of a point. However a shortage exists in the cream stout category. Sort of a one dimensional beer that asserts itself and does not do much more

Appearance: a great dark black color with a nice tan head.
Smell: a nice balance of hops and maltiness
Taste: Good taste but not what I expected. I think its a little tart for a cream stout. There was a little bit of residual sweetness but it had a dry finish. Slightly bitter and well balanced.
Overall: a good beer.

Pours black with 3+ fingers of mocha colored head. Below average head retention & lacing

S: Coffee big-time & a bit of cocoa

T: Baker's chocolate, roasted grain, & a bit of dryness up front. A bit of iron, more roasted grain & a touch of lactose as this warms. Finishes roasty with nice chocolate notes, plus just a bit of leafy hops

MF: Smooth with medium body

Drinks fairly easy, a good not great milk stout

Poured into a nonic pint glass, the appearance was a dark brown color with some rings of light lace. The aroma had some mild roast, sublte sweet caramel maltiness. Lactose comes in after some warming. The flavor leans to the roast and caramel malts first. Creamy lactose sweetness amplifies after some warming just like in the aroma. Mostly sweet imbalanced aftertaste and finishes with a slight syrupy contour. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionability about it. Gets a bit syrupy slick in the feel. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt fine. Overall, imbalanced sweet stout, though I was able to finish the bottle, just gets a bit too syrupy in the feel and finish.

A 12 oz bottle purchased on Liquid Solutions.

A: The stout was poured into a Widmer Bros. weizen glass. The result was an explosion of head that exceeded five fingers, that's right a whole damn hand! The head is a coffee and cream tan color. The body of the stout is thick and black. As thinner sections of the glass, some deep ruby colors emerge.

S: The nose is chalky, mixing roasted chocolate with sickly sweet lactose milk notes. The chalkiness upfront is fleeting but makes enough of a presence to be noticed.

T: Burnt grains and roasted choclate flavors are strong throughout, punched down by a slightly sour yet sweet lactose flavor. The beer has been in my fridge for a few months, so the hoppiness that others have noted has smoothed itself out, providing a blip of bitterness before allowing the chocolate to lead the finish.

M: The mouthfeel is dark, full of roasted flavors. The milk element is reasonably subtle.

D: A good solid drink. It's nothing extraordinary but it works nicely.

Low carbonation, no head. Heavy on the roasted malt and coffee aromas. Very bitter from the heavily roasted malts. Syrupy mouthfeel. Did I mention flat?

Not a big fan of stouts but this one was quite good. Huge tan head that went away rapidly,
Good amount of lacings. Aroma is cocoa and roasted malts. Taste is some coffee, cocoa
Nice roasted malts, bitter hops. Alcohol a bit noticable but O.K.
Pretty well balanced for the style.
Mouthfeel is just right for a Stout.
Drinkability is good.

Pours a jet black with a huge three-finger head that slowly fades into a thin film.

Smell is awesome. Roasted malt, a touch of coffee, and milk chocolate. Also, a hint of what smells like marshmallow. It honestly smells like s'mores. Taste doesn't measure up to the great aroma. Mostly roasted bitterness with a burnt coffee finish. Hardly any sweetness to be found. There is a metallic quality that is pretty unpleasant as well.

Mouthfeel is a bit thin. There isn't really anything sweet or "creamy" about it. Drinkability is not very good for the style. I'm a huge fan of sweet milk/cream stouts, but I probably won't buy this again.

The beer pours an onyx color with a planetary sized head that is somewhat creamy in consistency and a nice light chocolate color, the lace formed is a thick and sticky sheet that envelops the glass. The aroma of toasted grain, vanilla, and sweet malt hit s your nostrils first, light coffee and fresh chopped black walnut tones also appear to be present, with the star sweet, nice malt presence and the top middling in its feel to the palate. Finish has a crisp acidity, the hops delicate and pleasing in their spiciness, sweet and somewhat chocolate bitter aftertastes pouts the cap on this drinkable if middle of the road stout, well worth a sample for the “Stout Novice”!

This beer is hearty and a great representation of the style, filling like eating a bowl of cereal. Dick's cream stout has a great chocolate malt taste, bittered with hops but not too much. This beer pours a dark brown with little carbonation and almost no head.

Not a bad stout but not much of a cream feel. Poured from a bottle into a glass. I only point that out because of the self proclamation. Otherwise a great stout.

Moderate tan head settles quickly. Nearly black-- just a tinge of garnet around the edges. Deep, roasty, chocolately notes along w/ hints of vanilla and oak in aroma. Diacetyl aroma is quite strong, but couples well with the roasted notes. The low carbonation, silky mouthfeel and medium body accentuate the smooth roasted malt flavors. Mocha flavors fron the roasted barley and chocolate malt combination are quite assertive but enjoyable. Hop bitterness is moderate and when coupled with the roasted grain flavors the result is a taste bittersweet brew. Although highly flavorful, this stout isn't overly rich & and is thus very drinkable. I am reminded of a Shakespeare Stout "light"

There's a bit of humor about this beer. First, the label really reminds me of Schlitz Malt Liquor. I mean, then the bull even looks the same. Then they have the balls to put Dick's and Cream in the name. On to the beer. The carbonation is a bit strong, the head booms to just a tad thick with an extrememly soft pour. Any hint of roughness and it would have gone out of control. The head is much like that on a coke float, thick, rocky, stiff and lasts forever. Even after letting it sit for 30 minutes between the first few sips and when I came back to it, it was still there, although reduced. The body is very dark, but flashes of mahogany appear at times. There's a bit of a fizz early on and if you lean the glass away from you, you'll notice a heavy wall of tiny streaming bubbles that normally stay hidden in the murky blackness hitting the sides of the glass. Beautiful beer. Too bad the flavor doesn't match up. Roasty aroma, dark roast coffee, a hint of dark chocolate. More dark chocolate laced coffee in the flavor, this time lightened with a dash of milk. The flavor is thin, almost metallic, though. Nice mouthfeel, actually fits the name, but not as creamy as some.
