I like this place.

The selection is decent. A little on the small side, but can be forgiven that. I like to build my own sixer, and Kentucky Breakfast Stout has usually been in there. They hold on to a few good brews after much of the city is dry.

The service blew my mind. I had a question, and the guys at the counter were clueless. They spent the next 20 minutes on the phone finding mne an answer. They actually sent me to another shop that had what I'd asked for. Above and beyond, indeed.

I like it on its' own merits, but come back and have a look as well. They still manage to surprise me on occasion.

Old Town seems to be primarily a wine and liquor store. However, they do devote five cooler doors to craft beer. Most all of their beer stock is chilled. One area holds Belgian and Belgian style ales and across the aisle are the other high quality beers. Prices are average.

The staff is friendly and they have the best selection in the Highlands. The store is across the street from Ear-X-tacy (one of the best independent music stores in the country). Cumberland Brewpub is about one block south.

Stone, Rogue, Bluegrass Brewing Company, Flying Dog, Schlafly, Clipper City, Samuel Smith, Pinkus, Ommegang, Unibroue, Aventinus, etc., and the usual Bass, Heineken, Sierra Nevada, etc. are available. I suspect turnover is high and stock does not sit long (due to the busy location).

Good for picking up something of quality without driving to the suburbs but you will not find rare beers here.
