Inspired by the beauty of the White Mountains; the Sonoran White Chocolate Ale is a light, refreshing and completely unique wheat beer. Like a fine chocolate, this brew has a delicate aroma and a subtle taste of white chocolate, which is truly astonishing!

Overly carbonated. Not getting much chocolate either.

Man I was virtually certain I had reviewed this beer before. Oh well. Pours a dark gold to light amber color, 1/3" off white head. The aroma is rather mute, don't go looking for amber waves of grain or deep chocolate sensations at this point. At best there is a feint orange meets chocolate feel to it (but nowhere near the depths/extent that it does in say Bruery's OC beer).
Taste, a little more chocolate comes out of this one here. The body is very light, doesn't really distinguish itself as a wheat beer other than its relative levity. Very low bitterness. Somewhat similar to the new Sierra Nevada beer I reviewed (oatdittlyoat) that had an all oat base and lots of chocolate. This is like a watered down version of that beer. Its not bad, no off flavors, but it isn't needle moving in any way. The bomber only format is also a let down. Like, I might be down for 12oz or less of this at a time, but ain't no way I'm paying a premium cost per ounce to drink 22oz in a sitting of this.

White Chocolate and marshmallow flavors dominate this beers profile, making milky and sweet. It can be a refreshing change from the typical wheat ale, and is worth a try if you find it on tap.

22 oz. bottle:
Pours slightly hazed yellow to gold. A thin head becomes wispy. Trailing lace leaves dots of lacing.
The smell is of white chocolate enveloped by orange (wheat) tang.
The taste is of wheat malt with a hint of white chocolate. The white chocolate is late and lingers through the aftertaste.
It is light-bodied, but not thin. A bit of a spritz, but not fizzy. Smooth, pretty creamy.
A unique brew. A solid American Pale Wheat with a white chocolate character. A good, light, novelty brew.

Received as an extra in a trade. Bottle date of February.
A - Poured into my Duvel tulip nice crystal clear golden hue with a one finger white head that fades slowly to leave a thin blanket and a light halo.
S - Aromas of nutty chocolate. Almost light almond aroma, good nuttiness, little bit of malt sweetness. It really does smell like a glass of white chocolate. Little bit of vanilla. Slightly syrupy. Not much in the way for wheat ale notes though.
T - Taste is not nearly as good as the nose. There is some of that nutty light roast, very very little vanilla. The malt sweetness is fair and the flavours do form into a 'white chocolate-esc' taste. There is an almost burnt wheat flavour though that is rather unpleasant. The finish is a bit acrid as well.
M - Mouthfeel is nicely carbonated, however, the body is rather thin which leads to thin/watery mouthfeel.
O - Overall the nose on this beer was very pleasant, but the taste just really left something to be desired. Unfortunate as it can be quite difficult to get that kind of nose in a beer. Really a shame.
