Great craftsmanship in a stout! Deepest ale, almost the flavor of dark deeply steeped tea, but, with a frothy creamy head and gives a cocoa-ish palate with a refreshing clean finish. Perfectly dry. This is the best brew at the brewery and I have sampled all of them available this season. Price is great, too. Will purchase again! Also, the root beer is perfection. If you take the tour you will find out that it is made from real root-beer (sarsaparilla) and no artificial flavors infused with molasses and pure cane sugar liquor. It is 5 stars!

From a 12 ounce bottle, this brew is a black, opaque color with a slim tan head. The aroma is of roasted grain and coffee...along with a bit of bakers chocolate. The beer is dry, balanced, and easy to drink. Medium in body and robust. Straightforward stout.

A - Poured out an opaque, jet-black color with a small, short-lived head. Very little lacing to speak of.

S - It smelled of chocolate and strong roasty notes.

T - It tasted of dark chocolate, roasted malt with a touch of piney bitterness.

M - It was crisp, sharp and smooth. A light to medium bodied stout with a dry finish.

O - This is a pretty nice stout. One of the best beers I've had from Weston.

Poured into a shaker pint glass.

The beer is coal black. A dark cream colored head sits on top and dissipates to a thin brown layer. Decent foamy lacing sticks to the glass. The beer smells of bitter chocolate and burnt malts. The taste is of bitter chocolates up front. A semi-sweet taste hits the palate later with the roasted/burnt malt notes. The mouthfeel is pasty/chalky with a very dry finish.

Overall, a chalky stout, but I think it's one of Weston's better brews.

Got in a trade with The-Adjunct-Hippie. 12 ounce can into pint glass, no can dating. Pours nearly opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger dense and fluffy khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toasted dark bread, and herbal; with lighter notes of molasses, coffee, nuttiness, smoke, and roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toasted dark bread, and herbal; with lighter notes of molasses, coffee, nuttiness, smoke, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/spicy hop and roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toasted dark bread, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of darkl/roast/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great roast/hop bitter/sweet balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light dryness from roast/hop bitterness, lightly increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, fairly creamy/silky, and lightly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.5%. Overall this is a very nice dry stout. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of darkl/roast/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth, easy, and quite refreshing to drink. Great malt complexity with balancing hop character. A very enjoyable offering.

I poured a bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance- Very dark brown with a fingers worth of dark tan head. Light amount of lacing.

Smell- Dark roasted malt with hints of coffee.

Taste- The flavor is not very strong and is the same as the smell.

Mouthfeel- On the light end of medium bodied and slightly watery. Light amount of carbonation.

Overall- Pretty simple stout. Not bad but not impressive either. I was hoping for better from a brewery that prides itself on it's Irish Heritage.
