600ml bottle poured into Sam Adams pint glass.
Pours a clear lemon yellow with a thin cap of loose white head that leaves random soapy lace as it recedes.
Smells of dry hay, mild white cheese, baking bread, ground black pepper, lemon zest and cut grass.
Tastes of bread crust, peppery yeast, muddled pithy citrus, more grassy hops and well-behaved cheesy funk.
Feels light and fizzy. Light bodied with peppy carbonation. Finishes dry.
Verdict: Recommended. Probably could stand to be less hoppy.

Straw color
Aroma hits of light citrus, zest, crackery malts, light grainy sweetness, grassy.
Grainy sweetness, hints of pear, citrus zippy sweetness, light crisp quality, medium plus hop bitterness with grassy and spicy. Pepper and coriander onto some grainy aftertaste.

600ml bottle - named after an American who apparently was instrumental in the early electricity game in Quebec.
This beer pours a hazy, pale golden yellow colour, with three fingers of puffy, loosely foamy, and bubbly off-white head, which leaves some scattered blotchy and sudsy lace around the glass as it quickly blows off.
It smells of mildly cheesy funk, bready and doughy pale malt, a weak wheatiness, muddled domestic citrus fruit, a touch of mixed table top pepper mill output, and some leafy, grassy, and dried-hay evocative hops. The taste is gritty and grainy pale malt, a retreating funky yeastiness, slightly edgy wheaty notes, still mixed and matched citrus acerbities, a steady complex pepper spiciness, and more gentle leafy, earthy, and scorched grass hoppiness.
The carbonation is fairly tame in its taciturn frothiness, the body a decent medium weight, and more or less smooth, as the particular yeast here has a minor heart of gold, or something. It finishes rather dry, with the fruit rind thing meshing with the yeast, as the malt gasps its last.
Overall, a pretty engaging and enjoyable Saison, the yeast proving to be more robust than simply phenolic or funky. Add in the weirdly masked fruity characters, the zingy spice, and the well-lowered ABV, and what we have here, is one sassy summertime quaffer!

Pours very pale straw translucent milky.
Smells of farm ( I am not an expert of season beers ).
Some sourness, some lemony acidity, salt. No sweetness at all.
The tastes seem to sort of melt together with the carbonation and you want to have another mouthful.
It is more complex than you think and the 600ml bottle is empty already.

Aldred has a pallid, opaque complexion that could practically be described as 'milky' (despite that it's actually daffodil yellow in colour). There is not even a glimmer of clarity or highlights - for all intents and purposes, this ultra-pale, white-capped, summery-looking beer might as well be black.
Short people aren't necessarily weak; likewise, just because a beer is low(er) in alcohol doesn't mean it can't still be high in character - especially one that uses Saison yeast! This bouquet is a lively, zestful, and surprisingly potent blend of lemon and lychee fruit, white peppercorn and field-fresh hay.
People make the assumption that decreased alcohol equates to increased drinkability - not necessarily. The beer has to be interesting to make it worth drinking (and keep drinking). If I'm having multiples of the same thing I'll take the more flavorful offering (regardless of alcohol content) every time...
Fortunately for me, Aldred pleases the taste buds without doing needless damage to the liver. Notes of lemon and lychee, like those in the bouquet, replay on the palate albeit with an increased spice dimension and even less cereal grain to stand in their way. Hops and yeast steer this bus!
And that suits me just fine. Nuances of lemongrass, pineapple, grass clippings, rose petals, and whatever else your nose or tongue pick up on are wonderful accompaniments to the straw and spice qualities of a standard Saison. Trou Du Diable make a lot of beers worth buying but don't overlook this one!
