Pours light gold color with strong head which retains itself fairly well. Elevated carbonated pilsner with citrus (lemon) sweet malt and floral hop overtones in aroma and taste. Light and crisp. Overall enjoyed this beer.

La Pitoune pours whitish gold with good head and medium carbonation. The smell is a blend of oats, wheat and dewy flowers. The first taste consists of leafy herbals, fresh cut grass (mostly herbaceous) and potent floral notes. Going out on a limb here and saying maybe also some seawater & tree bark? La Pitoune finishes with a lingering of cooked barley and some underlying notes of dry malt.

Hazy gold color. Moderate head which settles to rim bubbles and leaves only a couple of spots.

Grainy with the palest of malts. Oddly, I also pick up on the alcohol presence in the nose.

High carbonation with thin body. Strong grainy flavor but it doesn't cross over into macro category. The hop is more pronounced than most pilsners but it still remains firmly within expectations.

Received 600 ml bottle of this as a Xmas gift....pours medium hazy yellow - big head with lots of fizz, but it disappeared quickly. A nice fruity smell..... tastes a bit of's body is light to medium.....has a clean bitter finish but also a bit of sourness - but in a nice subtle way that makes you want another sip. A very refreshing balanced beer.

This doesn't seem like a German Pilsner at all to me though....

From a 600ml bottle, dated 21 01 16. Served in a nonic. Yes, I should have used a stange but I didn't so sue me.

Pours a hazy champagne or straw colour with a billowing crown of rocky, snow-white suds. Very good retention followed by persistent islets of foamy scum and clumps of suds hanging off the glass.

Smell is bright and flowery, grassy, with lemon and clean, crackery malt.

Taste follows the nose, sweet crackers overlaid with bitter lemon, flowers and sharp spices, green apple, wet grain and citrus zest. A little sweet, a little tart.

Mouthfeel is sharp and clean, dry, light-bodied and more than amply carbonated.

Overall... well, overall I hope I'm rating the right beer because there's nothing on the label that would indicate that I'm drinking a kölsh and, frankly, that wouldn't have been my first guess. But, anyway, it's yeasty, bright, light, crisp and accessible. I spent the morning thinking about doing yardwork and even though, in the end, I just sort of sat around drinking beer, this would have been an eminently suitable reward had I actually accomplished a damn thing.

Slightly hazy straw color with strong activity. Foamy white 3 finger head, lasting around 15 minutes, with some good legs.

Fresh floral aroma with sweet grainy malt. Flavors of grains, corn, lemon, honey, herbal and floral spices. Nice grassy and quality malty biscuity feel with a little roasted smoky corn. Highly crispy with a pleasant dose of sugar.

Slick light body with champagne like carbonation. Balanced medium strength clean finish, ending with a faint citrusy and slightly dry tongue numbing noble spices.

Overall an excellent craft having delicious balanced flavors and great freshness.
Well spiced and accessible. I'm in love with Kölsch now!

Pint on tap at Beer Revolution in Calgary. A pale lemon yellow with a single finger of creamy bright white head. Aroma recalls breakfast cereal, lemon rind, fresh grass, and a vitamin tablet-like yeastiness. Ditto on the palate. This is a robust kolsch, with a mildly toasted grain backbone, a vibrant grassy hoppiness (more than is typical for the style), and the aforementioned fresh yeast note thanks to a lack of filtering. Hints of green apple and lemon. Body rather thicker than expected, with moderate to high carbonation. Finishes rather dry and floral. Some of these Quebec breweries do great takes on German styles (oddly enough), and this is no exception. Nice patio beer.

Mild clarity. Hazy golden color. Sweet bready malt aroma, some green apple ester. Somewhat fruity taste (Green apple/pear). Earthy/noble hops in mediocre and balanced well. Sweet pils profile. Highly drinkable.

On tap and bottle. Rating for draught version. Golden body with creamy white head. Aroma is cereal, noble hops and lemon. Taste has a light tartness balanced with hop bitterness and rich cereal notes. This is a very simple beer yet perfectly executed and so drinkable. One of my favorite light beer in Québec aside from l'Amère à Boire and Albion's concoctions.

The head that floats on top is fluffy with a good density. It leaves a sticky ring of lace behind. The body itself is an unfiltered golden straw hue.

A smooth and mellow sweetness made up of peaches and pear is perched over top fuller notes of breadiness and hay. Maybe a touch earthiness and grassiness are what show of the hop presence. There's a fullness to it that comes from it being unfiltered and I like it. Overall, it's straight shooting but pleasant.

It comes in with a crisp bite and a grassy bitterness. The breadiness on top adds some weight and lessens the bite. I unfortunately don't get the same fruity quality but there is some underlying sweetness. A pinch of lemon is a subtle casing throughout.

It's got that lagered bite with some fullness but its body is a bit mushy and wet. It's easy drinking nonetheless.

This is a straight shooting and refreshing summer drinker for me. It's got a crisp bite with an overall smoothness. It's not my favorite from the brewery but it has its time and its place.

Appearance: It has a nice slight hazy golden/yellow color to it. It has a nice thick off-white head that dies down moderately and leaves nice lacing.

Smell: The aromas definitely give out hints of bready malts, earthy/grassy hops, lemon zest and some floral notes.

Taste: Like the aromas, it has some bready malts, slight cereal, grassy hops, a touch of lemon and some floral.

Mouthfeel: It has a medium carbonation with a nice overall balance and feel.

Drinkability: It's a very smooth drinkable beer accompanied with good lavors and aromas.

Beer is a cloudy golden with a large white head. Great retention and lacing.

Nose contains grassy, spicy hops. Biscuity malt. Not a lot happening.

Taste is better than the nose. Biscuity, bready malts provide a nice moderate sweetness, while pleasant grassy hop flavours bring some balancing bitterness. A bit of lemon. Some slightly spicy notes. Finish is somewhat dry and a bit sulphury.

Medium bodied, moderate carbonation level. Refreshing, goes down very easily.

Overall, quite good. This is not a style of beer that I particularly enjoy, and I was surprised how much I liked this one. Nicely balanced and flavourful.

Appearance - Pours a slightly hazy, pale gold with two fingers of bubbly white head.

Smell - Bready malts, spicy yeast, slight mustiness, hops.

Taste - Bready and biscuity malts with a little hop kick. Spicy yeast and mustiness in the finish.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

Overall - An easy drinking Kolsch that has some of the right elements, but is missing some characteristics that I would consider key (e.g. vinous flavours). Also not quite sure how I feel about the musty notes (almost skunky).

Pours a weak straw color that is slightly cloudy and has a nice virgin white head that looks downright soapy as it calms down to form a chunky film that sticks around pretty well. Good retention; big, gloppy lacing.

Earthy, bready, floral. Really big malty yeast aroma right up front with some spicy hop odors in the background. Smells refreshing and inviting.

Dry, earthy and rich. Starts out bicuity and fresh before a bitter hop kick that finishes it off. Ridiculously well-balanced and hard to parse out as a result. There is a lot going on, but all in perfect harmony.

Creamy and crisp. Pretty dry/thirst-quenching with a abrupt and smooth finish.

This is a really good beer. These guys are amazing and even the beers I haven't liked from them have still been really good.
This is a text book example of what delicious results can come from keeping things simple and by-the-book. Well-balanced, refreshing, mellow, hearty. Perfect barbecue, picnic, camping, session beer.
Will get again.
Worth finding.

12oz chalice at Beer Revolution.

This beer appears a glassy, mildly hazy medium golden yellow colour, with one finger of tightly foamy, somewhat creamy white head, which leaves some decent thundershower lace around the glass as things melt away.

It smells of crisp, biscuity pale malt, a hint of aged lemon, and fresh leafy, earthy hops. The taste is more biscuity, bready, cereal malt, a bit of pepped-up lemon rind, and floral, leafy hops.

The bubbles are a tad uppity, but settle in well enough, the body medium-light in weight, and a bit stilted in its smoothness. It finishes with a trend towards the dry side, as even the malt continues to tout its biscuity character.

A decent rendition of this archaic German style, though not quite a memorable as LTM's version. Worthy of a few, I would imagine, as the price out here is a bit too dear for the size, especially for such a straight-up quaffer. And damned good with BR's pizza.

600ml bottle poured into tulip 17/6/13

A slight haze with lots of tiny particles, pale yellow with bubbles popping up from everywhere with the occasional giant, two fingers of loose bone white foam leaves lots of random lace deep down the glass

S noble notes are strong with some grass, a little thrills chewing gum, just a little citrus, dry cereals and some leafy herbal, floral notes, smells quite strong and its working well

T slightly less hops with just a little grape candy, still very solid but the nose had just a little more intensity

M light bodied and almost foamy from the bubbles but stays creamy, noble finish lingers quite strong, no complaints in this department

O I could down this bottle in no time, pretty solid all around and something I could session under a summer sun without getting board

I'm quickly falling in love with this brewery, a wide spectrum of styles and they keep nailing them. I'm stoked that I can buy this in Alberta and will be buying it again, a nice summer brew that won't kill ya

On tap: Poured a hazy bright beige color Kolsch with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of floral Hallartau hops is quite beautiful and very enjoyable. Taste is a mix between medium sweet notes of clean cereal notes with some distinctive leaf Hallertau hops notes with a light dry aftertaste. Body is quite full for style with good carbonation. Very well brewed and probably more hopped then style would dictate but I would definitely love to have this beer available as a six pack on a regular basis.
