Poured from can into tulip glass. Poured dark brown/rust with thick frothy cream head. Aroma was subtle almost watery of cocoa and spice, taste followed nose. Medium feel.

I love a good doppelbock. Seen this one pop up recently at the Food Lion and finally decided to try it (since they were out of Troegenator). It was a little more expensive than others, so I was hoping for something a little more nuanced. It calls itself a doppelbock lager and I feel that it is an accurate description. Drank from the bottle. The smell was that of a typical doppelbock- cocoa and heavy malts. The taste struck me with its lower carbonation, which was a slight disappointment to me. Toasty caramel and cocoa up front with very very mild coffee on the finish, rounded out by a moderate malty aftertaste. The feel is less of a doppelbock and more like that of a lager- a little watery. Not terrible, as this adds to the drinkability and keeps you from feeling extra full from one or two. I wish there was a bit more carbonation for my taste. It’s nothing to write home about and due to it costing about a buck more per six-pack, I doubt I will buy it again. The pro was the lightness on the stomach. I’ll give it a middle of the road 3.5 rating from me.

A can poured into a pint glass. Look had a bit of a surge-style start that quickly shifted to a 1/3" of a floofy off-white foam head and a crystal clear body of brownish-reddish-garnet-ish. Scent is watery and a touch of malty sweetness and a slight bitterness from cocoa nibs. Taste is an interesting blend of the cocoa nibs being quite prominent while the sweetness and malty qualities burst throughout. Feel is on the medium bodied, smoother side with a malty bitterness in the aftertaste.

Dark with slight head. Deep malty flavor with a slight hoppy flavor & clean yeast flavor. Basically what you expect from this style emphasizing dark malt flavor over other flavors.

From the neck of the bottle in blue ink: "PKG ON 12/12/19C"
Appearance: The body of the beer is a dark reddish-brown with good clarity. It has a short off-white head that is almost tan colored. The head slowly sinks in the glass. No lacing.
Aroma: There is a very weak nutty aroma that smells slightly burnt.
Taste: Toasted caramel flavor persists throughout the beer with a light hint of alcohol. Sweet tasting finish.
Mouthfeel: It feels light with low carbonation.
Overall: It wasn't that great of a Doppelbock. The flavor and aroma were very weak and the presence of alcohol flavor didn't do much to improve the beer. It's drinkable and it does have a light bit of caramel and sweetness but it's just not very enjoyable to drink. I'd recommend passing on it unless you bought it in a variety pack, in which case it's still drinkable.

Pours about the color of a Coke or Pepsi. Nearly no head which made me wonder if the one I tried was old or possibly too cold?? Light aroma first with a little burst of caramel first, followed by some yet to be determined scents of spice. Not a real demanding flavor leading in any direction. I initially thought I would like it more than I actually did. The more I drank, the less I liked it. Maybe this was anomaly and I should give it another shot??

Perfect balance of rich maltiness and sweetness. Very little bitter aftertaste. Beautiful dark color even when held up to the light. Comparable to its imported euro dopplebock cousins, shame this is only a seasonal beer

A: Deep brown in color with a ruby hue when held to the light. Light tan head that disappears fairly quickly.
S: Caramel, raisins, and brown bread notes.
T: Bready with a good amount of chocolate, with raisins, and caramel.
M: Medium thick in body with moderate carbonation, and a slightly slick finish.
O: Overall not bad, but also not great. Mid-line.
