This will mark my seventh (!) consecutive Stout as part of the winnowing of the Bottle Backlog here at Chez Woody. It is starting to pay off, though, as I have cleared out a LOT of beer since undertaking this concerted effort.

From the bottle: "All Access"; "Bittersweet aromas arise from cocoa additions while chocolate and fruit notes lead into a smooth finish."

Mine was an absolutely brewery-fresh bottle that recently arrived on my doorstep, so I thought that an aggro pour might be in order. Whoops! I knew to back off as soon as I saw a pseudo-cascade happening, but I still wound up with a three finger-plus mound of dense, puffy, deep-tan/light-brown head with defiant retention. It refused to fall away! Color was Black/Opaque (SRM = 44), allowing garnet highlights only at the edges. Nose had a smoky roastiness along with a dark chocolate bitterness. This should be interesting. Mouthfeel was medium, nothing spectacular. The taste was VERY chocolaty, but sweeter than what the nose had led me to expect. There was also a breadiness imparted by the malt & it made me think of a chocolate-glazed doughnut! That may seem silly, but that is what I got from it. It made for a nice departure from the Stouts of the past couple/few days, some of which were really intense. This beer was, to my hophead sense, much more accessible and relatively low in ABV for the style. Finish was semi-sweet, not bittersweet, but chocolaty with a slightly smoky, roasty offset.

Poured into a chalice: color is black, solid, head is light tan and presents about 1/4 inch thick of a quick pour, dissipating quickly to a ring and spotty notes on the side.

Smell is big chocolate, pretty bitter and dark like chocolate, light coffee note but could be the malt, light roasted malt.

Taste is chocolatey, sweeter than aroma but still good deep, dark chocolate flavor, light to moderate sweetness, good malt balance but definitely chocolate dominated. As noted by others there is a doughnutty like quality to the composition with a chunky chocolatey-ness with sugary sweetness. ABV is hidden very well.

Mouthfeel is moderately carbonated, slightly drying at the tale end but still strong lingering chocolatey sweetness.

Overall one of the bigger chocolatey beers, especially for this strength - chocolate flavor is not detracting but definitely the focus of this brew.

Pours a deep ebony color with a tight, khaki head that leaves little bits of lacing.

Smells of chocolate notes and some roasted malt.

Tastes of the deep roasted malt with a good chocolate component. Malts lead off with notes of molasses and brown sugar before the semi-sweet chocolate comes through. Roasted bitterness adds next along with some earthiness. Finishes with a bit of lingering chocolate.

Mouthfeel is medium with a smooth amount of carbonation.

Overall, this is a pretty good stout.

12oz bottle poured into a snifter
Bottled 11/8/17

A- pours a deep black color with a thin foamy khaki head that has short retention

S- the nose is slightly metallic at first, complimented by notes of charred malt, bitter chocolate, black licorice & raisin

T- dark roasted malt up front gives some charred notes, as well as dark fruit notes of raisin and fig. Mid-palate brings out some chocolate sweetness, as well as caramel. The finish gives more dark fruit and chocolate sweetness

M- medium-heavy body with moderate carbonation leads to a creamy mouthfeel and slightly chewy finish

O- nice thick mouthfeel for a nice dark and roasty stout

Pours a dark brown color with beige edges and a thin layer of head. The nose is roasty but I'm not really getting any chocolate notes. The chocolate comes out in the flavor profile and blends well with the roast.
