Consumed about 45 days after bottling.
The look is a bright gold, clear-looking beer with a minimal amount of bubbles. The head is a respectable one and a half inches of glaringly white small foamy bubbles that take about a minute to settle down.
Nose is very hop-forward. Not the brackish piney stuff, mind you. Rather, the noble hops. The malt lingers in the background and stays there throughout your time with the beer.
Taste follows nose: Assertive noble hop presence. Bit strong for a German-style Pils, but who cares at this point. This Pilsner stands in contrast to the weaker Pils that resemble a Helles lager. There's actual bitterness involved. Again, this is not piney hops, but if you have a friend who is an IPA nut and cannot drink anything else, give him one of these. It's a darn good Pilsner with enough hops to keep him interested until he reaches the bottom of the glass. Pleased to see this part of the Starr Hill rotation, as they do such good work.

Poured from a bottle into a glass.

A pretty good pils.

Color is on point at light straw. Unfortunately almost no head at all and no lacing. Some hop aroma blended with a sweet fruity smell. Hard to place. Taste is moderately hopped and a little brash with some sweet notes. Not much malty finish.

I recently conducted a mini-horizontal of Starr Hill Brewery's beers as a part of my ongoing and systematic eradication of the Bottle Backlog here at Chez Woody. Things are progressing nicely and the results are noticeable, but it becomes incumbent upon me to drink and review new beers as they become available. I refer to this as "chipping", since it is just odds & sods without any overarching theme, such as brewery and/or style.

From the bottle: "Heavy Rotation Series"; "A German-style Pilsner, dry-hopped with German hops, golden in color with floral notes and a crisp malt finish."

I Pop!ped the cap & began a gentle pour, in keeping with my New Year's Resolution and my Lenten denial. Aggro pours from bottles are now (mostly) a thing of the past. Once decanted into the awaiting glass, a vigorous in-glass swirl raised a finger of foamy, bone-white head with good retention. Color was Yellow-Gold (SRM = 4 -5) with NE-quality clarity, calling forth The Gelt Gang of Mammon, Midas & Croesus, all clamoring for a taste. Nose was both biscuity with malt and grassy with hops and reminded me of summers at my maternal grandparents' house in the countryside when my grandmother would bake while my grandfather mowed the upper lot. Mmmm. Mouthfeel was medium-to-full, big for the style, but there was loads of effervescence visible in the glass, by way of explanation. The taste was very biscuity, more malt-driven as it should be in the style, but the grassiness of the hops was a nice counterbalance. Personally, I prefer the hop-driven Czech-style Pilsners, but this was quite nice. Finish was dry, refreshing & left me hopeful that Starr Hill will begin CANning so that I CAN fill my summertime cooler accordingly.

Once more, my wish(es) became their CANmand(s)! A box o' CANs showed up with this among them! I CANnot wait to try it. Today is Tuesday, 29 Aug 2017.

From the CAN: "A German-style Pilsner, dry-hopped with German hops, golden in color with floral notes and a crisp malt finish."

The Crack! was actually a bit scary as I got a spurt & then some foaming through the vent. Once it calmed down, I could see that the CAN was brimful with liquid & no place for the tongue to go. Time for an inverted Glug to celebrate! Man, did the foam come foaming up to form two fingers of soapy, foamy, rocky, bone-white head with modest retention. Color was Straw-Yellow (SRM = > 2, < 4) with NE-quality clarity. Nose smelled of freshly-mown hay & honey-drizzled biscuits. Mmm. Summertime as a youth near a working farm. Mouthfeel was medium-to-full, not quite creamy, but big for the style. The taste was actually kind of lemony, rather than grassy/hay-like, to go with the honey-like quality of the malt. Mmm. Dang, did this taste good! Finish was clean, crisp & dry & eminently quaffable. I would absolutely fill a cooler with this beer!

CAN wins! 8=)

Golden in color and nearly transparent, jut lightly hazy. 1 1/2 finger white head with light carbonation.

Aroma is lemon and spice with a hint of sweet malt

Taste is similar with the addition of light to moderately bitter hops.

Medium in body and rather crisp, and yet slick with light syrup. Slightly numbing.

A good beer! Great aroma and feel., and easy on the taste.
