A strong citrusy, resinous aroma from the hops leads into a light body with subtle malt flavor.

From a bottle. The pour had a great burst of effervescence yield a nice, tight white foam head that settles down over a couple of minutes. The body is a pale straw with great clarity (before the glass started sweating). Scent is clean and hoppy with mild notes of citric and grassy spice. Taste is similar (grassy/citric hop) with a complementary malt backbone that helps round it out. Feel is on the lighter side with a hoppy bitterness lingering in the aftertaste. Nothing jumps out, but it is an overall enjoyable beer.

From the bottle, it pours a nice hazy amber with a modest head, soon diminishing to a thin layer. In the nose, it is a bit of citrus. In the mouth, it is lightly bitter with a bit of malt.

Look: clear light golden with a finger thick white head

Aroma: caramel, grapefruit

Taste: It is some caramel, some grapefruit and maybe pineapple.

I tried this at the Roanoke, VA location. It poured a slightly hazy golden with thin white head that did not leave much lace. The scent had hints of tropical fruit peel. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with malt base and citrus hop presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it was a decent beer.

A good Virginia Blue Ridge American Pale Ale. At 4.7% alc/vol, it's an easy drinking all day ale. Picked a six-pack up at my local Food Lion in Norfolk, VA. Star Hill brews are solid!

Had two bottles at the Duck Deli in Duck NC. Perfect for the day and time. Nice session IPA. I drank from the bottle with fish tacos. Nothing remarkable. Slightly fruity but not strong. I wouldn't go looking for this beer again but glad I had some on this vacation.

This is a local beer I keep returning to. There's nothing that would make this beer stand a part from the over saturated market but because it's made close to home and it is crisp and refreshing, they'll occasionally get my dollars :-)

L: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had an orange-ish color and a clear consistency. There was a small amount of foamy head that quickly dissipated. Pretty good lacing.

S: A solid aroma of hops, pine, light fruit, and malt. Pretty standard, but good.

T: Tasted of a bit of fruit (orange, pineapple, for the most part), a little bit of caramel, light pine notes, some malt as well, and hops, though they aren't as prevalent as in some APAs. Light and airy flavor that's generally likable. Not a bad flavor, but nothing exceptional.

F: A well-carbonated beer with a smooth finish. Light-bodied.

O: This isn't anything to write home about, but it might make a good session beer. Drinkable.

Appearance is a bright copper and translucent beer with a one inch head that quickly fades. Great deal of carbonation.

Aroma is of pine hops and taste confirms this. Pine predominates the flavor, with a small bit of malt in the background. Not a lot of depth to this one.

This is called a pale ale, but it looks, smells and tastes like an IPA. (Similar to Blue Mountain's Full Nelson.) In a different category, I would give it higher marks. Either way, it is a flavorful and sessionable beer.
