Brewed under license from and supervision of Carlsberg, this product comes in a 33cl brown bottle with a blue and white label featuring a Tuborg truck rolling through a snowstorm. Ingredients conform to the purity law. Bottled on 10/13/03, I opened it on 12/5/03.

Pours a clear light amber under a thin off-white head that fades very quickly. A mild candy nose (caramel and toffee) is supported by a light and very prickly mouth. There's a good caramel and malt opening, followed by lots of smooth hoppy bitterness. The aftertaste is both sweet and bitter. While winter seasonals can certainly be far better, this is not a bad little brew.

Probably the lightest of all Scandinavian Christmas Beers, this one is brewed in St. Petersburg - obviously as a result of merging Vena Brewery into Baltic Beverages Holdings.

Color is light amber, snow-white head quickly dissipates leaving an impressive lacework.

Smell is strong, malty and candyish but not as spicy as with the other Christmas Beers.

Start dry. Taste is also strong on malty and caramel notes, rather one-dimensional. Body is too light for the type. Finish dryish, acidic, almost tart. Aftertaste bittersweet, quite pleasant.

Not bad as it is but too weak to come out of Santa's bag.

Appearance: Orange, clear, light carbonation evident, off white head, 2 fingers thick with moderate retention. Blue bottle!

Smell: Not much here, fruity-ish with some light malts evident, along with a small spice note but you really have to dig to get it.

Taste: At first glance this is your typical Euro lager in a different bottle. Finish has something a little different, a hint of spice. Lightest fruitiness with a soapy note and grasses.

Feel: Light and carbonated, prickly.

Notes: a gimmick that I won't fall for again.

Amber ale that is not very interesting.

Clear amber in the glass. Flavor is distinctly malty with only a slight sweetness. A salty tang also comes forward. Savoring a mouthful, the beer is rich and almost oily on the tongue. Not very hoppy, with almost no bitterness in the aftertaste. Finally a very slight nutty hint but not much distinctiveness.

Promising unusual blue bottle, but for a winter or Christmas beer this is one of the least flavorful examples I've tasted. Still, pleasant and drinkable enough if you think of it as an alternative to the usual Eurolager.
