Pours a hazy yellow with an alright head, minimal lacing.

You can make out some hops in the smell along with some citrus notes, but nothing overwhelming or extraordinary.

The taste is slightly sweet but rather weak compared to other Sea Dog beers.

Goes down easy enough, but overall it's just an average beer with many other different beers I'd rather be having during the summer season.

Appearance: dark gold, clear, 1/3 inch head, high carbonation

Smell: malt, wheat, grass/earth--almost pilsner like

Taste: malt, wheat, grass/earth--a touch of honey in the aftertaste

Mouthfeel: light, smooth, sweet, can feel the carbonation

Drinkability: slightly above average for the style, I could have several--especially in the summer..Not overly complex, but a good lawnmower beer

This summer ale poured a hazy yellow with a good sized head and some lacing that went part way down the pint. It is not a bad Weisse beer, just nothing to write home about. The aroma is one of sweet malt with a hint of citrus. The flavor is mild with some of the distinctive wheat flavor and a heavy hit of citrus. It is surprising thin in the mouth but goes down well enough for a second.

Tap at brewpub in northborough

Very light head almost non-existant, mostly clear pale, orange golden color.

Nose is light toasty malts, light fruit, very light.

Taste has fruit, very little wheat not even sure if this is a wheat based beer. Also
with hints of pale malt flavors, extract like syrup, very fruity, light hops with a bit of bitterness, light grassy and earthy hops. Finishes with toasty malts, light lingering bitter grassy hops.

Mouth is med to lighter bodied, very little carbonation.

Overall pretty meh, way too fruity, no carb, hops aren't bad, very little wheat, maybe its the bottom of the keg but not very good.

On tap at brewpub in So. Portland. Poured a nice, golden color with a very small, white head. Slightly hazy with no particles. Doesn't smell too much like a typical summer ale; no real wheat to speak of. Smooth on the palate with a medium-lasting aftertaste, and a nice flavor (some citrus?). Goes down very easy; a good lawnmower beer, but nothing really special to set it apart from all the other summer ales out there.

Poured on-tap at the Sea Dog in South Portland, the beer was served in a pint glass. The beer is a bright orange-gold color that carries a thin foam, and has great cling to the glass. The nose is fruity, a blend of strawberry and peach, with some light spicing. The beer's flavor is buttery, with muddled strawberry and peach flavors again. The beer has a sweet and slick aftertaste, but still somewhat nondescript. The finish is quick and light, and at times you honestly forget what you are drinking.

Pours to a bright orange-yellow with medium thick white head that lasts to mid-glass and leaves a little lacing. Aroma is mildly floral hops, and the mouthfeel a lttle thin and slightly tingly. Flavor started out as floral hops, but I could actually taste a hint of apple and citrus fruit toward the end. The finish is okay, but nothing special.

This would make a decent session beer on a hot night.

At Sea Dog, South Portland:

In a pint glass:

A: golden yellow body with no head probably because the bartender filled it to the brim (no worries). No lacing was seen. Gentle carbonation slowly rose.

S: bland sort of wheat. After it warmed up a bit, there were some light fruits and then the malts came out a bit.

T: the same as the smell, nothing really different.

M: very light with a decent amount of carbonation, sessionable

O: this is a decent summer offering by Sea Dog's. Though I'd probably only have it again on tap.

I had this on tap at the brewery, so freshness was key in this case. I also had his one right after I had the Topsham Pale, and it didn't quite measure up. It is a pale yellowish orange color with mild carbonation, very light, very watery, slightly dry, very little head or retention. There just wasn't much going on with this beer. This had a slight barley smell, but it was hard to really get much if anything because of its weaknesses. There may be some fruitiness in the nose with a bit dribbling into the middle of the swallow, but not enough to make it interesting. The one odd characteristic was a slight fizziness in the aftertaste. The summer ale taste too much like the weak cousin to the pale ales that Sea Dog serves, so I would recommend just going straight to them instead.

Serving notes - 0.5L German glass, cellar temp
A - Malty sweetness and earthy hops with some citrus.
A - Crystal clear, light straw color, single finger of head.
M - Nice medium body and carbonation.
T - Light lemon without the bitterness, same earthy hops and full maltiness that were in the aroma. Very clean finish.
D - Nice easy drinking but full bodied beer. Good summer beer.

A: Pours a golden yellow with a nice fingers worth of head that sticks around for a while, never dying down to less than a 1/2 inch

S: Some wheat and light fruits at first, along with some generous bready malts

T: Same as the smell, a light fruitiness with the wheat followed up by a bread and butter-like aftertaste

M: Light bodied with moderate carbonation. Helps clear the palate if you've eaten anything and leaves it ready for the next bite/sip

O: This is a nice, easy-drinking summer beer that goes great with the season. Could definitely session quite a few at a BBQ or gathering, too

This beer has a light amber color. When the bartender poured from the draft line he topped the glass off, so there was little or no head to speak of ( this might not be the norm ). There was a light sweet malt aroma. The flavor was lightly sweet and even though this is a wheat beer the taste made me think of malt. The finish was smooth and crisp with a hint of citrus at the end.
