A crisp and refreshing wheat ale with delightful aromatics and subtle spiced flavor. Hints of cinnamon and nutmeg make this fall brew a flavor sensation.

I have never had a pumpkin ale before. I'm not sure what a beer with so few reviews from the other coast was doing in Trader Joe's down the street from me for a buck but I thought I would try it.
The colour is a rather disappointing dark straw and the head started fluffy and white but has vanished rapidly. It smells of spices; nutmeg, ginger and clove.
It begins deceptively cleanly with a metallic taste before the spices take over with nutmeg to the fore. At this point I no longer feel like I am drinking a beer. The question at hand is whether I like the spice. It is interesting, but would be better in the background rather than as the dominating feature. I wouldn't want to tackle more than 12oz of this.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass.
Appearance: Light amber color with a thin white head.
Smell: Mostly pumpkin spice, like nutmeg, a little hint of wheat.
Mouthfeel/Taste: Smooth light bodied. Taste of light pumpkin spice and light wheat.
Overall: Don't bother with this one. One of the worst pumpkin beers out there.

I am winnowing down the backlog of bottles so that I CAN return to The CANQuest (tm) and since I just had a pumpkin beer, I figured that I would have another while the first one was still fresh in my mind. Tomorrow night is looking like Oktoberfests/Marzens, but for now, it is pumpkin.
Another screw-top bottle! I had no idea, so I prised it open for the Pop! Once I realized that I had been duped, I initiated a heavy-handed pour that garnered three fingers of foamy eggnog-colored head with light retention. This had a weak nose, reminiscent of the worst: Shipyard Pumpkinhead. Color was Yellow-Gold (SRM = 4 - 5) with NE-quality clarity. This called forth the Gelt Gang of Mammon, Midas & Croesus, all of whom wanted a taste. Mouthfeel was thin and watery. Taste was slightly spicy, but that was all. Did they mail this one in or clone the aforementioned Pumpkinhead? Either way, it was not indicative of their capabilities. Finish was semi-dry, begging the question of where were the spices? Either do it wholeheartedly or give it a pass. I should have given this a wide pass.

Mixed six from ABC - very subtle pumpkin flavor. Left a bitter spot on the back of my throat.
