Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of raspberries, not overpowering. Taste is tart, raspberry, some wheat, very refreshing and easy drinking. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is an enjoyable beer.

Objectiveness can only go so far. I cannot believe I am drinking this, this....thing. The only semi-redeeming quality is its color. Pours boring gold with red hue. Smell, what do you think it smells like? !?!?!? Taste like fruit punch seltzer with a stale aftertaste.

This not my type of beer, now or ever.

Appearance- Looks more like a macro lager than a microbrewed wheat ale. A mix moslty golden hay with some amber highlights around the edges with some MGD bubbling. The head is just like when you order MGD from a bar tap.

Smell- A mix of Lindeman's Framboise, stale wheat, and macro adjuncts.

Taste- Starts out with a good, sweet rasberry flavor. It tastes like real rasberries. What is cool about is that you would never think this beer would taste fruity at all just by looking at it. But the rasberries slowly mix with some subdued wheat flavors and then to a macro lager finish.

Mouthfeel- A nuce fruiity palate for about 60% if the tasting experience. It wasn't too much or too little, it was just right. But the macro notes weren't appreciated.

Held up to light, this is more of a golden-red color. Smells good, like Lindeman's Framboise lambic. The flavor disappears suprisingly fast - almost as fast as it hits your tongue. Very strange. I suppose this would make for a light, refreshing hot weather beer, or a beer that you wanted to drink and forget that you were drinking.

The mouthfeel is the most bizarre aspect of this ale. It is simply not there. You taste (for about 1/2 second), swallow, and there is absolutely nothing in the back end of this beer at all. Its like eating a weak candy & washing it down with a swig of water. Not so much "awful" as that it just misses the mark entirely. I can't say I've really ever experienced a mouthfeel/body like this before.

Go for Great Divide's Wild Raspberry ale instead.

Sea Dog's raspberry ale is a little better than their blueberry ale in trying to taste like a fruity beer that didn't lose its way. It's sweet, a little tart, and overall refreshing, but it still lacks in a a memorable finish or in tasting like beer. Its sweetness is a little too fruity to really want to keep drinking.

A - Clear straw with a thin head.

S - Lots of raspberry in the nose, with a background of wheatiness.

T - A little bit of tartness up front and a good dose of raspberry flavour. There's some husky grain, light hopping.

M - Kinda hard on the carbonation. Not too light bodied.

D - OK drinking fruit beer. Nothing special.

BBD of Dec 07

Pours an effervescent golden honey with 4+ fingers of cream colored, fluffed up head. Great lacing & above average head retention

S: Berry syrup & a bit of wheat tartness

T: A little dry & tart, then raspberries pile on up front. Tastes a bit like raspberry gum, but the dryness & tartness help as this warms. Finishes crisp, tart without a lot of sweetness, but berries none the less

MF: Light-bodied with moderate carbonation

Drinks okay, just doesn't blend well taste-wise for me. More malts would help. Worth a try, my wife will enjoy this, I predict

Pours into the pint glass a clear orange color with few bubbles. Not what I was expecting, looks more like a colored, transparent hefe than anything. Thin, white “spit” head that rapidly fades to nothing, leaving no lacing. There’s an odd fruity scent on the nose, more akin to lemon than to raspberry. Some malt evident. There’s kind of a vague raspberry smell there if you hunt for it. Taste is first of all tangy, sweet/sour and a kind of artificial raspberry flavor, like maybe a residual or afterthought of flavor. Not a really good raspberry presence. Sort of perfumy, it might even be described as rose petals. Malt-liquor like flavor dominates and detracts. Mouth is thin and watery. Drinkability? Pheh… not so great. I wouldn’t drink more than one.

Overall: I had hoped for more, but this brew comes across as a macro lager weakly flavored with raspberry syrup. I tried this one alongside Great Divide Raspberry Ale, and while not an outstanding beer, the Great Divide blew this one away.

A: Golden yellow with amber hues. Fizzy head that shrinks to nothing. Lots of rising carbonation.
S: Tart fruit, tart raspberry, some grain and raspberry syrup or candy smell. A bit light on the nose.
T: Grainy, macro taste with tart rasberry flavor. Drop a piece of raspberry candy or give a splash of raspberry flavor to a macro and you get the point.
MF: light, finishes semi-dry to dry.
Overall: I like the Sea Dog Blueberry tons better than this offering. It just falls short of being good.

Head blows up quickly, but quickly recedes from its 3/4" zenith. Can't retain, can't provide lace. Aroma does indicate some wheat and raspberry candy.

Taste, whoa, way too sweet, lacking a body to carry such under attenuation. So much candy. Lacking hops or bitterness to counterbalance the sugary candy nonsense.

If you like Lindemens sugar added "lambics" maybe this beer is for you.

Lighter amber body and short white head. Leaves some lacing. Smells of sweet raspberries and no much else. Same for flavor, the fruit overwhelms the taste. It is at least good raspberry flavoring though. Although the mouthfeel is fine, the sweetness makes this undrinkable after one bottle.

Its better than a smirnoff ice, but I dont plan on ever having one again.

Not bad...not "beer" either. Poured a golden/yellow...more yellow than anything. Weak smell with a hint of raspberries...imagine that! Nice smooth mouthfeel, typical of a wheat. A tad "flat" but at least not overcarbonated. Nice hint of real raspberry flavor, but not too strong. I find the Blueberry Wheat to be much stronger with the fruit flavor than this one. Not too bad, but not something I could buy a case of. The wife didn't "mind" this one...and she hates beer...so that tells ya something. For something different, maybe in the summer....this would be a good one to throw in a cooler along with the blueberry, and Leinenkugel's Summer Wheat too! All very different "flavored" beers, but well worth a try...and again, especially in the summer, or a warm day. Not a "football beer" by any means. Serve this to your football buddies and you're liable to get your ass kicked! HA! Worth a try... Cheers and SAAAALUTE my BA friends!

Poured from 12oz bottle into glass. Bottle neck has a stamp of 'BO 09.18.2017'.
Clear, orange/bronze colored body. Thin fizzy head upon pouring quickly disappears. No lacing.
Aroma is raspberry and faint malts.
Taste is a first impression of sweet/tart raspberry, which is quickly followed by the sharp twang of the wheat malt.
Thin mouth feel. Rather low carbonation.
The label does not identify this as a wheat ale but the taste gives it away. There are two similar beer listings from this brewery - one for a Sea Dog Raspberry Ale and one for a Sea Dog Raspberry Wheat Ale. The brewer's website does not offer many beer listings but does include the Sea Dog Raspberry Wheat Ale.
The beer is okay and would be best for hot weather relief but the presentation overall is rather blah and without distinction. The best aspects are that the beer is refreshing and that the profile is clean and quick.

Pours a light golden amber with an orange hue. Head gets up a bit and settles quickly to nothing. Aroma is lightly citric with a faint raspberry nose. Taste is a bit flat in the mouth but it has a crisp flavor behind it that has not completely overdone the raspberry flavors.

This one is decent enough to drink but not top shelf. A few tweaks and I may just really like this one...

1/2 inch fizzy white head on a clear, sparkling deep gold body. Lots of bubbles rising to the top and good lacing slowly sliding down the glass. I'm not very good at describing the aroma, but the raspberry in this beer is unmistakable. Taste is a good match for the smell, light and sweet, and the raspberry is not subtle. Mouthfeel is medium, oily, fizzy. Probably too fruity for a lot of other beer drinkers, but I'm a sucker for this style. I could drink a few of these.

This beer poured a clear golden color with a thick head. The aroma is definitely of raspberries and somewhat sour. The taste is fruity and a bit too sour. The mouthfeel is thin and somewhat carbonated. This would be a bit more drinkable if it wasn’t as sour.
