Stopped in here on my way up to Peabody's in Boone. Saw this listed so thought I'd pop in. I see the last review was from '06. Well, things may have changed since then. I know grocery chains that have a better selection than what was here. There's a small sliding door cooler in the back that carried some singles, as well as a few bombers. You could mix-a-six, but not sure you would want to. They carried the likes of Sam Adams, Shiner, Pilsner Urquell, etc. Really, there's not much here. I'm positive one could find better selection at a Food Lion or something in town. They did carry a decent amount of wine, though most all of what I saw was dusty beyond recognition. Not sure this is a place for beer, but if you want good quality organic fare, this'll do.

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS PLACE! You are purchasing at your own risk. If you like the feeling of yard sale and flea market shopping AND paying over retail, this place is for you. If want to shop at a place that will treat you like a valued customer, make the drive to Boone or Winston. I try real hard to support local business and I was thrilled to see this type of place so close to my home. It's very sad that they don't know how or care to run a decent business.

Mother Earth kinda crept up on me on Main Street across from the old town hall. The place looks like an old west store with the wide porch leading to the door.

Inside the place the beer lurks in the back and downstairs. The downstairs cellar was really neat and could have housed much more beer and wine than was there. The website touts 85 beers and the sign out front 100. They probably do have that many, but they end up having 4-6 from the same brewery so several of the selections are from CB&B or Rogue. They did have OHB kegs in the cooler upstairs, but the selection upstairs did not vary much from down. The prices were very good and the service was centered around the busy counter but was helpful when asked.

To the side it appeared they had a little cafe, but I did not have time to see if they had any beer and should be added as a beer bar or not. I'd go back, just to see if the selection increases and to see if any good beer resides in the cafe.
