16.9 oz brown bottle reads "OXOTA Lager Beer". Clear, very pale yellowish gold topped by a short, creamy bright-white head that quickly dissipates. It keeps a thin creamy collar and leaves some thin lace throughout the glass. The bouquet expresses a softly sweet grainy malt and some grassy hops - very generic but clean. The body is light with a nice crispness in the mouth from a very fine and gently effervescent carbonation. The flavor is dryer than the aroma indicates with a firm, balancing bitterness and some grassy and spicy hop flavor. Well balanced. It finishes short and dry, with some minor lingering bitterness and hop flavor. Delicate and refreshing, but very mainstream.

One of the more drinkable (although not otherwise WONDERFUL) pale lagers reaching our shores thanks to the enterprising folks at Doyna America. Pours a clear, nearly brilliant straw in color with a a uniform white head which dissipates quickly, leaving a fizzy white ring around the glass for "lacing". Moderately well-carbonated. Nose reminds me of spent grains (and/or older stuff mildewing in a grain hopper, not altogether a bad thing, just earthy and reminiscent of my uncle's farm!) Musty, sour/grassy taste throughout, which develops a nice lingering bitterness toward the end. Aromatics suggest a bit more of that spent grain. Hell, this beer reminds me a lot of the Schmidt (Saint, Paul, MN) big mouths we used to suck down as kids at my other uncle's place! With a good but not great taste, easy-going carbonation, and a dry finish, this beer makes for a perfect thirst quencher/slamming beer, if only it came in big-ass half liter cans it could make for some serious (if boutiquey-priced) competition for Busch as a lawnmower beer - and I mean that in all seriousness, it ain't a slam! Hell, if this were on tap at my local I'd session it just as sure as I do Old Style five nights a week! (And here's a free hint for you folks who are shy about blowing your hard-earned $1.75 at retail on any one of the over-priced Ruski imports ya see these days: for a better buzz-factor/hangover go for the Krepkoye Oxota and/or it's VERY tall-necked sibling Bochkarev Krepkoye. Yes they hit upwards of 8% abv and yes the aftertaste is no less ass-like than the last can of O.E. or St. Ides, but the frikkin' Cyrilic lettering on the bottles will give your homies a kinnipshin, so lather up!)

Oxota: Out of a half liter brown bottle, bought it cheap, cheap, cheap! And its worth just about every penny.

This beer pours an extremely pale gold, not even as dark as most American standard lagers. Fluffy white head disappears very quickly, and leaves no lace. The beer is extremeley light bodied, it has a nice mild taste, fairly well balanced, but a small hint of skunk, which does not spoil the beer.

This is a great light bodied lager, easy to drink for its ability to refresh you on a hot day, but don't go looking for a whole lot of taste.

Poured into a lager glass... get a nice golden yellow color with a bright white head, that leaves the glass without me way to quickly, quick 2nd splash refused to give up much either... but... the smell reached me before i had a good chance to view the color.. what a grand earthy smell.. not musky but still far enough away from that "citrus" smell..taste is rather straight forward and lacks any tongue interaction, straight down the tongue into the tummy.. overall.. not a bad beer with minimal after taste.

Standard brown half liter bottle with a pretty non-descript label. Sugar is listed as an ingredient. Bottled on 5/4/03, I opened mine on 8/19/03.

Pours a crystal clear straw color with a white fizzy head that failed to linger or leave lace. The nose is slightly skunky, a bit like sour cabbage. The mouth was too sweet and over-carbonated. The opening taste is candy sweet, followed by a bit of light grainy malt. The finish has just a touch of hops, leaving a pretty bland aftertaste. Not offensive by any means, but there are lots better beers in the world.

500 ml brown bottle with "nubo OXOTA" Alc. 4.5% by Vol. Label is yellow, reddish brown, and the art is a jungle-like area with a hunter's hat and rifle laying on the ground.

Pours a clear, pale, golden color with a large fluffy white head in a Hofbrauhaus dimpled stein. Head is somewhat largish bubbles and irregula in size.

Aroma is weak, but pleasant, slightly sweet and grainy/grassy. Vague sharp hoppy notes.

Flavor is immediately sharp, not a great hoppy flavor, just kind of sharp. Grainy, bready, and sharp. Decent, but not much going on.

Mouthfeel somewhat thin.

This is ok, nothing special.

Pours a clear gold lager.

Smell is sweet and malty with a herbal hop scent and a good scent of grain.

Taste is sweet with a strong caramel flavor and a herbal hop flavor. Slight tartness from the carbonation level. Not much beyond that could pass for a Heineken.

Mouthfeel is average.

Drinkability is OK nothing outstanding or mediocre about it. Just another Euro lager that is more or less a Heineken clone.
