On tap at the Gardner Ale House.

Cloudy pale yellow with a fluffy offwhite head which leaves generous lace.

The scent is lemons, yeast and spice. I picked up something mildly vinous as well.

Taste is spicey, yeasty lemon with a hint of citrus (grapefruit) hops lingering in an astringent finish. I swear I detect a hint of pineapple in there as well.

Drinkability is frighteningly high. I could drink a lot of these.

Medium thin crisp mouthfeel.

A really nice Kolsch which I will be enjoying quite a bit of this summer.

Appearance: high carbonation, 1/4 inch head, gold in color, cloudy

Smell: faint toasted malt and sugar

Taste: toasted malt and grassiness dominate the beginning. Floral hops and honey jump in at the end

Mouthfeel: moderately sweet with a slightly hoppy finish, high carbonation, light body

Overall: This is the best of the three Gardner Ale House beers I tried. I loved how smooth and light it is. This is really sessionable. I have had better beers and would not drive there to get it. However, I may have a couple of pints if I was in town.

A very nice and refreshing version of this style. Light, hazy gold, fluffy foam top, jazzy approach.

The aroma is just right, earthy, sour, citric, banana yeastie notes all-over with honey-sweet and crispy malt balance and subtle but dry hop notes.

The flavor is very true to style, classic version, yeast in good complexity with all the right stuff, spicey wheat, sour, earthy yeast, citric fruits and a clean, slighlty sweet malt to balance everything out.

The feel is just perfect for a day after a long hike on mount Watatic in nearby Ashburnham, MA. clean, yeastie and refreshing, light crisp malt with the complexity and smooth effect coming from the lively yeast creating a nice jazzy bite.

Yes, I will have another!

Screw-cap growler filled at the brewpub.

Poured into an imperial pint glass, formed a 1/2" off-white head over the cloudy amber brew. Head holds nicely, with small bubbles bursting like you see in pancakes that are ready to flip, with moderate sticky lacing. Aroma seems to cover the bases, pale malt sweet, lightly fruity tart, with a twinge of hoppy pine. Taste follows right along with the aroma. Mouthfeel is creamy, and smooth enough to be swallowed almost before you know it, with little to any aftertaste, and drinkability is excellent. A treat each time I've had it, although yesterday didn't feel like Summer's end, more like mid-summer. 70 in January in Massachusetts, who'da thunkit?

Part of a sampler set--all of which had great heads and left ample lace. This is one of the palest beers I've ever seen--light straw color with a modest haze.

Malty and raw grain aromas; there's another smell that is subtly detracting, but I can't label it. It reminds me of an earthiness that is sometimes present in farmhouse ales.

There's a light hop that provides a counterpoint to the stronger raw grain flavor. Some spiciness and citrus elements. Quite thin body. Short lived aftertaste. Surprising level of malt flavor given the color.
