I've always liked the Southern Bell. The atmosphere is dark and very down to earth with a very downtown Dayton scene feel going on. It's a pretty spacious inside. There are some video games, pin ball machines, and a few poll tables towards the front half of the bar. I've been on the evenings during the weekend and it gets pretty packed and smoky inside (Although the smokey part has changed since Ohio banned smoking inside bars). There is always an eclectic collection of people inside. In the early and late afternoon it can be fairly empty; which I like better because I' not a fan of waiting to order a beer. I've never seen any draught beer here. I don't know why on earth they wouldn't have any but I think they could really benefit from having a nice rotation of craft beers (It sure looks like they have the room for it behind the bar!). Overall beer selection is alright. Flying Dog, Great Lakes, Bells, Founders, ect. Service is always friendly. I believe they serve free pizzas sometimes. Other than that, I don't know if they have any other food available.

Inside is kind of dark, with an old saloon feel to it. The mixture of people was quite diverse. Some pool tables, old video games, and a few televisions. There is not draft beer, but the bottle selection is nice. Highlights included Victory Old Horizontal, Hop Whallop and Hop Devil, 2 Great Lakes beers, Lindeman's Framboise, Orval, and Bell's Oberon. The bartender was not very friendly. Don't expect proper glasswear, our choices for our beers were imperial pint glasses, and smaller versions of pint glasses. The prices were very reasonable. It was interesting to stop in, but I don't know if I will be back.

the Southern belle is a cool bar right next to Canal Street Tavern in Fifth Third Field. They have some vintage video games like Ms. Pac Man and Galaga, as well as one of the vintage bowling games that aren't found too many places anymore. A few pool tables and good music make for a nice laid back type of atmosphere.

The beer selection is very good but not on par with say the Boston Bistro. A nice big bar but there is no draught beer which is a bit odd. They do however have a good bottle selection including Chimay, Orval, Flying Dog family, Great Lakes family, Bell's family, Victory, Samuel Smith's, Thirsty dog, and on.

Prices are fair and service is acceptable. Good place too stop for a good beer before or after a Dragons game or show at Canal Street.
