In Oxford for a conference. This is the best the town has to offer? It's a tiny little shop, very crowded within, rather dirty--could really benefit from a good mopping. The craft beer selection consists of about 4 refrigerated sections, plus a few shelves of unrefrigerated stuff. It's pretty much bog-standard stuff--some regionals like Great Lakes, a couple Ohio breweries I wasn't familiar with, and then the standard nationwide & import stuff. Except in a very small town, in Texas this wouldn't even rate a mention on BA.

I lived in Oxford while in college attending Miami University, and this is the only place in town to get craft beer. Of course most of the stock is standard macro-fare, but they always had a solid rotatingf line-up of craft beers from around the country (and sometimes world). The great thing about this place is that the owners will special order specific beers for you if you are a regular, so I was able to get many of my favorites and try some new brews from the West Coast that I otherwise would not have been able to obtain. I definitely miss this place.

Hand's down the best place to get beer. They have great selection in beer, especially since they have a new(er) guy that knows his shit aboot beer. He will go out of his way to get almost anything that you want. He also is into getting beer to age.

They have a great selection of Founders, Bells, Dogfish Head, etc. If you are looking for cheep yellow fizzy beer, it might be best to look elsewhere.

The staff is super-helpful and if you give them what kind of beer that you are looking for, they can find it.

Oxford Spirits probably has the most expansive selection in town. They carry pretty much ever good craft brewery available to southern ohio, and are the only place in town to get the rare releases. (KBS, Etc.) The staff is very friendly and often will toss in freebies with your purchase. They also recently hired a beer guy so there is some knowledge of what they are selling now. Since he was hired the selection has gotten even better. They will also order any beer you would like, if they dont have it.

The only place in Oxford to get the hard stuff also features some wonderful beers...and, I'm told, they are trying to expand their beer selection...which is a plus for me.

Oxford Spirits is a small store with a decent selection and some friendly employees. Usually when I go in there is one or two people who are very willing to talk about the new beers that have recently arrived...and, if they don't have the beer you want, they have a list of "requests" that the monitor and try to get based on availability and demand.

Most of the store is devoted to liquor, but they have a cooler stocked with some excellent beers. From Dogfish Head to Great Lakes to Southern Tier, they carry a pretty wide variety of craft American brews. They do have some imports, such as Unibroue and Chimay, and carry a few bomber...one of which is always a favorite of mine--Rogue Chocolate Stout.

The beer is reasonably priced. My only complaint is that most of the beer is refrigerated...which is a minor complaint. Overall, the place sells some great beers, offers a decent selection, and seems passionate about the beer they do sell.

The best place to get beer in Oxford. (It doesn't hurt that it's walking distance from my apartment.) They have a few different brews from Rogue, Brooklyn Brewery, Samuel Smith, Tommyknocker, Bell's, Troegs, Goose Island, Great Lakes, Sierra Nevada, Founders, Ommegang, Victory, and six packs of the good Sam Adams stuff that you normally only get in the mix packs. They recently started carrying Bigfoot which is great. Import wise, all they have is the above mentioned Samuel Smith and 750mL bottles of Chimay.

If you have a beer question, the staff isn't very helpful. They're more knowledgeable about wine choices and Scotch choices (depending on who you talk to). For the most part, just ask them simple questions.

And of course they also have obscene amounts of Natty Light cases.
