clear golden ale, not much head. Aroma is distinctly fruity, flavour is a little sweet for my taste but with a good kick from the hops, a good ale though not exceptional

The beer is clear amber with medium bubbles and an orange hue, an off-white rather high head that leaves good lacing.

The smell is clean, some sweet raisins and nuts, grass and nettles from the hops.

Tasting upfront sweet of bread, toffee, nuts, then some bitter orange and a nice bitter grassy end.

Medium carbonation, small bubbles, rather soft and fresh, a rather thin body but a nice dryness.

Actually not bad at all, not as bleak as I had suspected. Good with plain food.

I reviewed this one in December 2007 with a low 2,35 as the result. I promised to get back to this one later.

The colour is amber; the liquid clear. The three finger off-white head sinks quite quickly leaving some lacing.

The smell is dry with a somewhat chemical bitterness, some fruity notes (apricots, bitter oranges) and a sharp hint of paper.

The taste is bitter with a distinct chemical taste of chalk and minerals in the start. But there are also flavours of apricots (something of a house flavour) and toffee. The body is surprisingly weak. The aftertaste is dry with lots of minerals, a robust almost sharp bitterness and some hints of papers and unripe fruits.

The carbonation is strong with lots of small sharp bubbles. Too strong for the style, I think. The liquid is mid-smooth.

I know that the Britons can make brilliant beers at 3.5%. So why can't we get them to Sweden instead of those watered down copies of the stronger beers?

Enjoyed a few pints of this as I was recently visiting the UK. Seemed to be in about every other pub we frequented.

A copper-colored ale with a thin head, you'll smell a lot of sweetness as you bring it to the nose. I tasted a lot of plums, sugar, and just a touch of hops as I imbibed from a proper British pint glass. The mouthfeel is medium with a high drinkability as long as you prefer things on the sweet side. If you're looking for a session beer from across the pond, give Spitfire the call. It's not bad.
