Pours almost jet black with 1/4" tan head with some lacing on the glass. Smells of roasted malt, coffee and bitter sweet dark chocolate. Very roasty on the palate with coffee and chocolate, slight metallic presence with some alcohol lingering and bitter in the finish. Medium mouthfeel, light carbonation good weight overall. This is above average for sure but not something I would search out though.

Had both on cask and on tap at release party at the brewpub. Made by the past brewmaster Kevin Sommerville and aged with some wood spirals in it both on cask and the tap version. The cask version was served at the right temperature, had numerous bubbles on dark brown. Rich malting apparent in the aroma along with a whiff of smoke. smooth mouthfeel, a good Baltic. The tap version had more mouthfeel, after it warmed from its very cold state, and was noticeably lacey. 53 ibu. Target and Citra hops. Chocolate malt and coffee, and well balanced. The cask version is a superior cask.

On tap at Volo, served in a tulip.

Poured nearly black, with a finger or two of brown head. Held some great retention for a while; a solid half finger prevailed. Nose is of brown sugar, a hint of vanilla, cocoa and a light smokeiness/roasty quality is in the underneath all of this. Taste has more of the brown sugar with vanilla and milk chocolate to compliment. Good interplay between some bitter roasted characteristics and the prevalent sweetness. Smooth mouthfeel, with medium carbonation and a good finish. Fairly sweet, and flash of alcohol at the end. Good drinkability. Enjoyed this one, a good introduction to what TAPS has to offer.

On tap at The Winking Judge, Hamilton, ON. Very dark, almost black, with a frothy mocha cap that lasts and laces.Intense nose of licorice leads to vanilla, roasted coffee beans, soya sauce, smoke. A bit sweet, with marked coffee like bitterness and a massive dark chocolate component with the alcolhol detectable. Thick, vicsous.Full bodied, a definite sipper, but that didn't stop me from having 2 pints.

Bought a growler if this at the brewpub. $10 for a growler of imperial stout is an awesome deal! Pours pitch black with thin tan head. Looks quite thick. Smells of chocolate, coffee, lots of roasted malt with some oak coming through. Flavour has some nice roasty bitterness, some sweetness as well. Thick mouthfeel. Excellent imperial stout, possibly best Ontario one I've ever had.

a-pours a nice dark dark colour. Coffee colour head with nice lacing on the glass.

s-all sweet malts with some bitterness shining through. Dark choc and coffee notes very present.

t-sweet malts with the normal coffee chocolate flavours present. Nice warming on the back of the throat from the higher abv.

m-perfect for the abv...thick like you want in a porter...thicker in keeping with higher abv.

d-very much so...suprisingly for such a powerful beer.
