Another place in a strip mall, convenience store looking on the outside. Tons of beer inside, some all time classics like speedway stout, some different stuff you don't normally see from dogfish head. Some Alpine. Good stuff. Organization a little weird, but its always fun to look and look when you're a kid in a candy (beer) shop.

Didn't get the special invite to the special beer. Can't say the service was helpful as a result.

A little pricey like everything in the area, but definitely a place worth hitting up if you are anywhere near this place.

Impressive selection but outlandish prices. They had KBS, BCBBW, Jubel 2010, Lost Abbey Red Poppy, and a number of other rare offerings. However, their prices are exorbitant; $19 for a single 2015 BCBBW and $9 for 12oz of Pliny? No thanks.

Kudos for the selection, but this is highway robbery. I ended up walking out with a $13 sixer of Ruination 2.0. Hey, it was for a funeral, okay?

It is a pretty well known fact Lone Hill has an excellent selection. Where they fall short is their pricing. When they do have Pliny it is $8.99 a bottle!!! I've also seen W00t Stout 2.0 priced at $15.99 in their cooler. Another issue with them is their customer service. I've had a few nice conversations with Stan, but the others who work there are not pleasant.

Obviously, a lot of their nice bottles are not displayed. In my experience, depending on how much your total comes to at checkout, they may pull something nice out of the back for you. I know many stores do this, and for good reason (damn hoarders), but for some reason it just rubs me the wrong way.

I was always meaning to visit Lone Hill Liquors as I heard good things. This is solid bottle shop.

The location is in a strip mall at Lone Hill Avenue and Route 66. Once you go in, you'll find the wine in the middle of the store and craft beers in coolers to your right. I found the usual suspects you would find at better bottle shops and the prices I found to be on par to tad higher than my regular shops.

For me, the drive is a bit much to shop here on a regular basis, but if you're in the neighborhood, it's a good bottle shop to pick up quality craft beer. I didn't see any rarities, but I also didn't ask if there was anything held in the back.

The Worst liquor store customer service ever! I stopped here on my way to The Bruery after finding it listed here as a good bottle shop. I walked in and they did have a large selection. I was really only looking for sours and found nothing I wanted and the few bottles I checked out were over priced. It seemed like everything here was a couple bucks more than most places. I asked the guy if they had anything from Russian River (since most places like to hide it in the back) and he kinda rolled his eyes and said "I can get you a Pliny". I told him I'm actually looking for anything else besides Pliny. He said they didn't have anything else from RR. He went to go grab it from the back and my girlfriend asked if she could have one and he said no, just one. I asked if we each could have one and again he said no and that I am lucky he is being nice enough to give me one! I was surprised he was being such a dick and told him he's not allowed to NOT sell it to people. He's also not supposed to hide it in the back either. He said if I do that then everyone will tell their friends and they will come in here and all buy one. I said, so what? Do you not want to sell them? Do you want them to get old? Are you keeping them for yourself? Since he didn't give a shit what I said I went up to buy my 1 Pliny and he rang it up, $11!!! I assumed he changed his mind and was going to give us each one but he said no, just 1. It's $9.99 plus tax. I told him I pay less than half of that at whole foods and most places charge around $6. He said good for them. You should buy it from them then. I told him forget it and walked out. Could believe the customer service there. Just cause he has an account with Russian River he thinks he's a big shot or something. We'll see how long he has an account with them when they find out he's hiding, hoarding, and over charging for it.

Second stop of the LA area day, right after stopping at Hollingshead's so it had some big shoes to live up to. Upon entering I was left wondering if I was in the right spot. All of the beer is located in the cold fridges on the right side of the store. Spirits are mostly behind the counter and wine is in the middle, they outnumber beer approximately 3:1. Atmosphere was decent. I could feel the guy behind the counters eyes follow me around the store which was a little off putting. Service was much the same, he never once asked if I needed help and my only interaction with him was brief and to the point. Quality was pretty solid. I didn't notice anything our of date so no problems there. Selection was good but nothing amazing. Plenty of national and international brands mixed with the normal regional ones, nothing overly rare or anything like that. Prices were typical for the area. Overall a decent bottle shop but I wouldn't go out of my way to visit it again.

Easy to find, packed with a dozen or so shops in a strip mall. Sort of small, with wine taking up the majority of the shelf space. The beers were all in coolers (well done!). I saw most things which were available at Whole Foods or Bevmo, plus a little alpha. Settled on some Still Nacht as I just haven't seen it anywhere else in so long. Prices weren't as high as I expected from previous reviews, actually they were pretty standard for the LA area.

If you're in Glendora then you definitely should stop here and also at the sister establishment (Walnut Liquorette). But if you're in LA proper you might not be well served by the drive, as 99% of what I saw was available elsewhere. Still recommended as a very good beer store though!

This is the best liquor store if found to date. The selection is astounding and Stan is the most helpful liquor store guy I've met. They have more beer coolers than most stores have coolers period. I spent a good twenty minutes just looking at the different beers. I ended up buying my wife's favorite, bootlegger rustic rye, and a bottle of Alaskan smoked porter for myself. When I got to the counter Stan asked if I found what I was looking for. I said yes, I was mainly looking for my wife's beer, and a porter I haven't tried. I also mentioned that I have been looking for Pliny the elder, as I have yet to try it.

To my surprise he said he could help me out with a bottle, and went into the back room. Came back with a bottle and I was on my way. They have an excellent selection of beer, a fair selection of wine and spirits, and a helpful knowledgable beer man.

I would recommend this store to anyone looking for hard to find beers.

They also have a good selection of glassware, and general liquor store snacks and things of that sort

I hit a bunch of bottle shops this weekend (all based on BA recommendations) and this one, the last of my stops (today) blew me away.

First off, Stan. My first time visiting and he treated me like a regular. After allowing me to take in the inventory for a bit, he came around the counter and asked if I was looking for anything in particular. Told him i was always looking for Dogfish head brews. He went to the back and got me a Bitches' Brew (made my month) and a Red & White. He saw that i was picking up a Kern River Just Outstanding IPA and again went to the back and pulled a Kern River 5th anniversary Double IPA for me. I got a couple Drake's Hopocalypse and he let me know that he just got fresh Pliny in. I just got some over the weekend so i said to save them for somebody else. He asked me where i was from (Toluca Lake) and he recommended a few beer bars he likes in the LA area. I let him know how grateful I was and that i would definitely be back.

I didn't check out the wine or booze at all. But looked like a pretty solid selection. I drove 30 or so miles and it was well worth it. I can't say enough good things about Stan. if you're looking for something, ask him. I got the impression that if you ask for it, and he has it, you will get it.

This was the last place on my beer rounds this past weekend. I'd heard so many good reviews that I couldn't help driving out to Glendora from Glendale to check them out.

From the outside, Lone Hill looks like your average liquor store, with a hookah section on the right and coolers lining the wall. While their selection isn't huge (8 or so coolers) its got some beers I haven't been able to find anywhere else. I picked up a Temptation and Supplication as well as a couple bottles of Allagash Confluence.

The sales person was really helpful, although he was busy with a number of other customers asking him about Pliny the Elder (he said he has a list of 10 people from that day alone who came looking).

The price was a little higher than I've seen at other similar liquor stores, but for the selection and the rarity of some of the beers, it hardly makes the trip not worth while. The biggest hardship is that so many people know about Lone Hill there's a certain amount of luck in being there at the right time to find what you're looking for.
