I always look forward to the Velveteen release, I wish AA made it year-round. Poured from a bottle to a Speigelau IPA glass. A nice cloudy orange-copper pour followed by an aroma of citrus goodness. The citra hops jump out at you immediately. Also catch a grassiness/floral quality in the smell. Taste pretty much follows suit, a nice use of the citra hop....grapefruit, mango, some tropical fruit character, and some grassiness. A nice cracker-malt backbone provides balance and lends to a very drinkable beer. My favorite Ale Asylum beer.

Really liked this beer. Has a very hazy look to it. Big tropical notes on the nose and an extremely enjoyable creamy mouth feel that follows. I would never turn this beer down.

A big thanks to Jeff for this one. 12oz. bottle into a Darkness snifter.

Dense pour yields a .5 finger light cream colored head with good retention. Beer is a slightly cloudy muddy orange. Lacing is thick and layered with great stick. Very nice except for the color.

Nose is outrageously aromatic. Big hints of citrus, cane sugar, pine and fresh cut grass. A bit of fresh hop bite in the back. Really impressive.

Opens citrus, grass, pine and a bit of pineapple and tropical fruit sweetness in the back. A mellow hop bitterness in the middle is balanced by a fruit-forward and citrus-y malt backbone. Ends with a whimper of grapefruit hop presence. Same aftertaste. Nice complexity. I'm digging the great balance in this one too.

Light bodied with moderate carbonation. Vibrant and lively in the mouth and goes down crisp, sharp and accented. Finishes rather mellow with an aggressive, slightly lingering aftertaste. Very smooth and drinkable.

An IPA that drinks like and has the flavor of a IIPA. Need I say more? Incredibly under the radar.

Having the velveteen habit on tap....and it is good. Unfortunately the beer is somewhat flat. ...i think. The scent carries pine and the taste a nice fine pine resin. Thinking a lot of semcoe hops. Mouthfeel is fuller in body with poor carbonation. Overall worth the try.

On tap at the brewery. Clear orange. Smells of grapefruit, orange, and a lot of pine. Tastes of mostly pine. Very resiny. A little bit of orange brightens it up. Moderate bitterness. Medium body. Another solid IPA here.
