12 oz bottle, poured into a shaker pint glass . I'd say this beer was more of an English style brown ale. Nutty flavor, slightly sweet. Fuller body.

Picked up as a part of a build-your-own-sixer at my local Trig's grocer. The best by date on this one is blank/has been wiped clean, so I'm not sure how long it's been around. Poured right from the fridge into my Samuel Smith pint glass.

L: Pours a hazy brown/iced tea with golden edges where the light hits. Three fingers of dense head stick around for a good while, leaving nice lacing on the glass.

S: Sweet caramel malts hit the nose first, with some more very subtle walnut and chocolate notes present. Not particularly assertive.

T: Smooth bread and caramel malt at the front--on the sweeter side. There's a bit of an acidic/tart build in the middle that helps to keep the sweet down, with the malts continuing to play center stage. I'm getting just a bit of nuttiness--it registers more buttery than nutty, actually--but hardly enough to warrant the "nut brown" label. It finishes where it started, with the smooth caramel malts closing things out.

F: Medium-bodied, though it drinks a little more watery than I like in this style. As mentioned, it's quite smooth, but it seems to suffer a bit from a lack of carbonation--feels a touch flat.

O: This is a very drinkable brown ale with pleasant flavors, but it fails to deliver anything nearing robust or memorable. It's possible I've got a very old bottle, so I'll try to update this review when I get my hands on something fresher.

Light brown color. Light shines through easily. Small head...rim bubbles only. No lace.

Mild aroma of weak coffee and darker malts.

Sweet and toasty flavor. There's a good hop presence, especially for this style. Moderate to thin body with a high carbonation.
