Was expecting a letdown based on some of these ratings, but I was very pleasantly surprised. Served cold from bottle. Smelled like it was going to be a booze bomb but the alcohol was well tempered, with many of the chocolate and caramel malt notes still shining through. Again, didn't taste nearly as strong as the bourbon on the nose would lead you to believe.

650 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Deep brown body. Medium khaki head.

Smell - Bourbon is strong, but not boozy. Vanilla. Deep caramel.

Taste - More bourbon. Really dominates. Caramel and nutty malts, but it's mostly bourbon. Vanilla lingers in the finish.

Mouthfeel - Medium body. Not quite enough to stand up to the flavors.

Overall - Eh. Nice bourbon, but not something really outstanding.

Poured out as a deep brown color with a thin white head that quickly fades. The smell of the beer has a nice bourbon-like aroma to it. The taste has a nice amount of caramel and toffee with some vanilla in there with a bit of bourbon in there too. The feel of the beer is medium bodied, pretty nice. Overall this beer is pretty good for a brown ale.

The barrel dominates the smell. The coffee flavor of original Board Meeting is drown out by the Pappy barrel. Still, the sweet dark chocolate with vanilla and toasted coconut accents of bourbon barrel aging make for a solid offering. A little thin in texture but, keep in mind, the base beer is a brown ale. I'm curious to see what some aging will do to this.

Very anxious to try this and luckily one popped up at a share, Was very reluctant to chase one down given the price point.

A- Very dark brown, more like a porter than a brown ale. Light khaki head that held up for a while.

S- Light bourbon notes, not much else. It's lacking the wonderful smell of a non-ba Board meeting. I miss the big coffee and chocolate overtones masked by the barrel.

T- Not what I expected. I was hoping the Coffee and cocoa nibs would have balance better with the barrel aging. But the booze from the barrel is very predominant. Not bad, but not meeting expectations either. A little hot, maybe some age will do it justice.

M- decent mouthfeel, clean on the palate, not astringent, but not as smooth as I had hoped.

O- Big expectations were not met. Good beer, but not worth the price point or hype the rarity may bring.

The barrel flavors are heavy, but taste kinda nice if that's your thing. Unfortunately there isn't much balance between the oak barrels and what the original Board Meeting features. Both the coffee and cacao are nonexistent. It's also drinking really hot at the moment. Some time may mellow it out, but it won't bring the desired flavors back unfortunately. It's sweet, and lacks any complexity what so ever. And for the price, there are so many other BA beers I'd rather consume, you're paying for the name "Pappy" here without a doubt.

Its an Ale that has qualities of a Stout, but drinks a lot easier.

hints of vanilla. Some caramel flavor and coffee. Has a good nuttiness to it. None of the bitterness of a strong stout.

If you're luckly enough to snag one, then open it.

By far best brown ale I've ever had!!!! Lots of toffee flavor. Like almond rocha or like the candy part of peanut brittle. Tons of vanilla. Lite chocolate flavor maybe more like white chocolate. Decadent! It has all the attributes that caught your eye when you read the ingredients of the original board meeting. But unlike the original this one delivers! Coffee plays well of this one not overwhelming at all just a great overall brew.

Acquired the day of the release and popped as soon as I got back to the family's place.
Pour had total barrel presence. Could slightly see thru the poor. Burnt caramel in color. Left a finger thick head that quickly settled. Not much lacing
Nose instantly was that huge pappy wiff of vanilla marshmallow punch. Mild coconuttiness. Nice caramel malts.
Oh boy. One of the best vanilla and coffee blends . Caramel malts , absolutely none of the roast bitterness of a stout. More coco and vanilla in the finish. Perfectly sweet. Wow!
The mouthfeel had the perfect body of a barreled brown ale. Mild carbonation. Felt nice to roll around in your mouth. I could drink this daily . Not chewy like a stout. Medium body.
Glad I was in the area when this happened . Jazz , another stellar brew !! Keep um coming !!!
