Pours a dark reddish/amber color with a nice white head that retains well.

Smells of huge citrusy and piney hops all over the nose and a tad of malt peaking through but the hops totally dominate. Hopsmack!

Tastes of more citrusy, piney, and grapefruity hops with a slight sweetness from the malt but again, this beer is total hop domination. Ends extremely bitter.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a dry finish, good carbonation.

Drinkable? Absolutely.

Bottled on 11/30/2011

A: Pours a clear golden yellow with a two finger tall foamy off white head. This beer exhibits excellent head retention and significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: There is a cornucopia of hop aromas in this beer - citrus, mango, grapefruit, and pine. Very intense in aroma but also very pleasant/refreshing. Well balanced as the bitterness isn't the focus of the aroma but is present.

T: Very well balanced flavors, none of the hops overshadow the others and the bitterness is not overpowering. Lots of citrus, mango, grapefruit, and pine flavors.

M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation and very crisp.

O: Overall a very well balanced beer - some west coast IPAs can be too overpowering with the bitterness but this was not while at the same time really showcasing the hops. Really enjoyable and a beer that I will be having many more times, assuming it stays available in the area.

22oz bottle served in a snifter.

pours a hazy, dull golden tone with a solid finger plus of a light beige, foamy head. nice retention, slowly fades into a thin cap; good lacing. really respectable presentation.

potent nose offers citric (grapefruit/lemon zest) and floral hoppiness with a discernible pine character as well. not much in the way of balancing malts, at least from the aroma.

flavor follows the nose to a certain degree but in a more subdued way than i was expecting/hoping. i do get a touch of caramel malt. good, enjoyable, but in a star-studded category, really sort of middling. hoppy bitterness carries through the finish.

medium-bodied with medium carbonation. not bad drinkability, i just think there are better IPA options out there. that said, in the end it's still a solid offering.

First review on here, but what a beer to kick that off with!

Appearance: Murky golden color, with one finger of head.

Smell: Brash and citrus hoppy. It takes me by surprise.

Taste: Wow.. this is tasty! Wow.. this is hoppy! Smooth for an IPA and focused in the bitterness rather than trying too hard to be well-rounded. Fitting of the archetypal Southern California IPA.

Mouthfeel: Intense, but smooth and with noticeable carbonation. Almost tickles my upper lip.

Drinkability: Not a beer for everyone, but a delightful example of an IPA. I would not have enjoyed it as much without previous experience. I will be buying this one again.

Pale copper with some chill haze. Fluffy white head.

Strawberry, mango, peach, grapefruit, alcohol and pine resin in the nose. Very fruity.

Overwhelmingly fruity. In a good way. Strawberry, pineapple, mango, and grapefruit to name a few. Moves into coniferous resiny flavors. Finishes with some alcohol bite. Aggressive bitterness.

Thinner mouthfeel than a lot of IPAs which was expected from a SD IPA. Perfectly carbonated. Recommended, very complex hop flavors packed into this brew.

Cloudy apple juice with significant flotation devices

Again with the apples, fresh cut, along with a bunch of doughy breadiness

Next to no bitterness at the start. Thrice the charm: green apple, but not in the sad, infected sort of way. Touch of pineapple and downplayed citrus (a bit dated?) and a bone dry finish that leaves a parched yearning for a water chaser.

Body drinks a bit more like a carbonated DIPA with the drinkability straddling the lines, but more in IPA territory.

Im really look forwards to this and it pours a pale see through golden yellow hue with decent carbonation that leaves behind a two finger sudsy head and a rim of lacing, the smell is piney, citrusy hops, honey and bubblegum,it has a medium bodied well carbonated mouthfeel and has nice tastes of lime, passionfruit, lychee, bubblegum and finishes with a nice hit of piney bitter hops and overall its a nice IPA that is very well hopped but not totally balanced as the malt background definately takes a backseat but for someone who likes their hops thats not a problem and im just glad to be able to sample a brew from this brewery looking forwards to the next one cheers.

A: Rather hazy, light-orange colored, with about a finger to a finger and a half of fluffy, white head. Head is composed of medium to large bubbles, that dissolve rather quickly, leaving a moderate amount of lace (a little tough to tell in the plastic glass it was served in.)

S: Starts with some bitter fruits, but quickly followed with lots of bready malts. Not particularly hoppy in the nose.

T: Tasty. A bit of fruit upfront followed by a malty body, before finishing with moderate hops. There's a bit of dry, astringent alcohol taste between the fruits and malty body, but nothing I would call boozy; just not as hidden as some beers. 7.0% abv btw.

M: Medium body; moderately thick and sticky. Carbonation is good. Just about right for an IPA.

O: An excellent example of a West Coast IPA, though the hops may understandably be an acquired taste. This tastes like SoCal to me, and it tastes good.

This beer was tasted in a pint glass from the 22oz bomber shared with my by timtheenchanta.

This beer pours a golden amber with little head that doesnt lace or hold well. The smell is mildly malty with a good amount of a single hop that gives off citrus aromas. The taste is very nice. There is a strong hop profile with enough malty sweentess to balance out the beer. If you are looking for a nice hoppy tasting beer this is a good one. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with a nice amount of carbonation. Overall its a nice IPA but not the best.

Purchased in AK! Saweet!

Pours a nice slightly hazy orangey with good fluffy stark white head that leaves admirable lace. Nose is very citrusy hops and a generous portion of grapefruit. Taste follows with big grapefruit hops and a bit of pineiness. A very bitter bite through the middle. Not a sharp bitterness, but a dull bitterness, like chewing on a grapefruit with a sort of medicinal lingering bitterness. (that sounds bad, but I dont mean it to be bad or good) Some malt presence, but I would like a little bit more, as the hop presence in this one screams DIPA but the malt presence is pale aleish. Slightly unbalanced IMO. Still quite a good IPA, and one I will defenitely return to. Mouthfeel is crisp, yet harder to swallow than I would like. Drinkability is ok, but the akward sort of 1 and a half IPAness, makes it a bit strange. Overall a very good and well brewed beer, just slightly unbalanced and akward for me. Like I said I will defenitely return to this one, as it will be a fantastic go to, but as long as hop-15 is on the shelf right next to it, this one wont get as much attention. Recommended, but not mind blowing. Glad to see port in AK. Very Glad.

22oz bomber into a snifter, courtesy of gn0sis

A: Pours a clear honey color with a big white head that fades to a ring and leaves lots of sticky lacing. I breathed a sigh of relief as I popped the bottle and heard a whisp of c02 exit since my Hop15 was flat as a mofo.

S: The nose is huge with aromas of sweet tropical fruits, pine, and spicey hops. Almost smells like a DIPA and is very impressive. Definitely the best aspect of this beer.

T: The taste is a big hop bitterness at first and towards the middle it puts the tropical fruits on display for only a few seconds and then the piney bitterness continues.

M: The feel is crisp and carbonated nicely. About par for an IPA.

D: Not bad on the drinkability but I think the ABV and the bitterness would wear on you after a while. For a regular IPA this is kinda strong so I'm bumping it down 1/2 a point.

I have to say I was nervous before I popped the cap and started pouring given the carbonation issues from this brewery but it was a nice surprise. Thanks to Eric for the extra!

Lighter than I expected in color and hop flavor. Good for a lighter IPA given my tastes, easy drinking though if you are looking to have more than one.
