22 oz. bomber, bottled on 10/2/2012. Could be fresher for a harvest ale.

A: This isn't a belgian? Gorgeous light gold color, cloudy. Ridiculous head and retention. Soapy.

S: Not as big of a hop aroma as I'm sure existed 2 months ago.

T: Lemon, flower, citrus. Malt does its job to keep the balance.

M: Good, maybe a little too much carbonation for the style. Again, reminds me of a belgian like Duvel.

O: Wish I had this fresher, but still held up well.

On tap at Union Jacks during the Port promotion...
Appears a hazy, semi transparent light gold with a fluffy white head that slowly fades into a mild head of sea foam. Tons of tubular lacing is left around the glass.
Smell is of light hops with birch bark and red grapefruit sticking out among the bunch.
Taste is of caramel, sugary grapefruit, and pine.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, bitter through the entire delivery of the beer from start to finish.

From bomber into cab glass...

Hazy golden honey with ample carbonation and light bready signle-finger head with solid lacing.

There's those grapefruit-forward Centennial hops - huge! Nice mild floral notes to this also. Excellent and powerful...also some mild yet hearty malt.

Crisp grapefruit texture - even up between rind and pulp - again, slight floral presence. Malt is crisp and bright with even bitter finish. Slightly lighter flavor profile than expected from the nose of this thing.

Very clean on the palate with solid bitterness. Warm malt gets thicker but not heavy. Finish is strong and even-keeled...quite clean.

Drinks well but not as thirst-quenching as more grapefruit-heavy IPAs. Solid seasonal offering.

Pours orangy-gold and clear, with a modest half-finger head of white.
Some spotting of lacework remained for the duration, as well as a whispy coating on the surface.
Aromatics are pungently floral, with plenty of tropical fruit and resinous dew. Definately showing off the distinct grassy, sweet, oily hop profile found in fresh hop ales.
Mouthfeel is medium and very crisp. Drying and mildly stinging from the bitterness, albeit very smooth.
The pallet is juicy and sticky, with plenty of drying crispness and sappy resin.
Very light malt and well attenutated, with alcohol that starts to warm, but in check enough keep the brew from being a full fledged IIPA.
Plenty of tangerine, grapefruit zest, and lupulin powder.
Damn tasty and extremely quaffable, and the restrained bitterness and alcohol keep you coming back for more.

At $9.00 per 22oz bottle though, (which is like a $27.00 six pack) it will not be a repeat purchase.

Poured from a 22oz. bottle into my glass.

A - Pours an almost clear golden orange with a huge three finger, creamy, and off white head. The head stuck around for a while with some really good lacing.

S - Slight hint of grassy earthy hops. Upon second whiff I get some pine. A little underwhelming.

T - Good, solid IPA. Starts with a good dose of bitter grapefruit, and then hits you some resinous piney hops and some balance from the slight sweetness of the malt right at the end. Dont get me wrong its not that sweet, real subtle.

M - Light to medium bodied with good carbonation. Refreshing and crisp with a nice dry finish. No heavy stickiness.

D - Very good, and would take a super fresh bottle of this anytime. No problem with the bomber. May I take another!

i would say if you get a good bottle, you're lucky because i returned all 3 of mine $19.47. whole foods devon even refunded the empty, i opened it, i drank it. but it was flat, awful, and that review would be a 0 if i could score that. however this is the draught review ...

beautiful yellow, lemon almost opaque color. nice big blast of fresh hops in smell and taste. nicely malted for balance and drinkability. bitter little buzzsaw that was one of my original favorite beers from 2010. still an enjoyable seasonal, just forget the bottles this year. i wont risk it again unless i know i can return it.

goes real well with capones 25c hot wings.

this beer is a pleasant orangey gold with and initially large foamy white head, but it dies quickly.
the smell is piney and citrusy (mostly lime-like) i don't get anything but hops. on closer inspection there i a hint of an almost sweet spearmint aroma... that's hoppy.
the taste is grapefruity and piney... thats about it. it's like licking a hop leaf. the citrus is not just confined to grapefruit though, i get orange rind oils, lemon, and maybe ... tangerine? no malts to speak of.
the mouth eel is medium, but has an odd, unexpected creamy quality. i function of the delicate carbonation probably.
good drinkability. not one to drink for astonishing complexity, but good if your looking for a westcoast hop showcase. i'll take it.

note: my overall score probably doesn't really reflect my opinion of this beer, it's very good (better than 4.05), but it is what it is, a little one dimensional.

Bottled last October so this one could be a little fresher but either way I'm gonna try it. The beer poured out as a nice hazy yellow color with a fluffy white head on top. The retention and lacing is pretty good. The smell of the beer is pretty bright and lively, the Centennial overpowers the Simcoe. The taste of the beer is citrusy with a bit of pine in the finish. Not much malt sweetness. The mouthfeel has a little too much carbonation but still drinkable. Overall I want a fresh bottle just to see the difference. Still good though after a few months.

The beer pours a hazy gold color with a thick frothy white head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is good. It has a light pale malt scent along with a citrus hop nose that's fresh and bitter. The taste is good as well. It has a quaffable pale malt flavor along with a grassy hop taste. It's quite bitter with just your basic malt base. The mouthfeel is fine. It is a low bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This is a highly drinkable IPA. The fresh hops add a ton of character.

This is my favorite IPA, equal to Pliny the Elder. It is an A+ IPA, not A-.

Classic example of a West Coast IPA: Dry, low lovibond (light-colored, for you who aren't homebrewers), and piney aroma from the Simcoe (that's a hop). It's basically a Pliny the Elder, but without the Columbus (that's a hop).

Anyone who would give this anything less than an A should not be reviewing IPA's. This beer is a religious experience for IPA lovers.

And I found it in July. ;-p. No Beerspy, sorry, going to hoard it, heh heh.

Pours a cloudy golden yellow. The antique white head attenuates quickly, but laces the glass as it dissipates. Sweet grapefruit bouquet. A light smoky peat balances the citrus nicely. Finishes with an appealing bitter grapefruit. This is a delightful effort from Port Brewing.

Poured into an IPA glass from a bomber. Bottled 10/2/14

Color is straw/orange with lots of bubbles creating a massive pillowy head with a sticky lacing.
Smells like fresh hops - great job of capturing the essence of the plant. Lots of citrus and grass with a hint of malt sweetness.
Flavor is floral, grassy hops with some orange rind. Carbonation is high and provides a bit of a bite before the lingering bitter finish.
Body is light/medium with a lot of carbonation.

Overall, a very good fresh hop IPA. I enjoyed the way the smell of the fresh hops was captured.

Picked up a bomber from AJ's in late January for 5.99.

Beer poured a golden color with a small white head. Nose detects a bit of malts and a hint of those fresh hops that are about to slam my palate. Taste is very true to the IPA form. There is a presence of some malts in the background but my palate is dominated by the freshly harvested citrus like hops. Mouthfeel is a bit thin, but lively, with an oily residual hop left behind on my palate. Drinkability is good. This is a nice representation of the IPA style.

Picked up a single at Liquor Max in Colorado.

A: Poured a rich golden color with almost no head, what little head there was left a clingy sticky lacing to the side of the glass.

S: I can definitely smell the hops and a sweet sugary malt that balances in with it. Hops are peppery and spicy in the nose. Pine is definitely present, and a slightly grassy finish. Very complex.

T: The hops are the focus of the beer here, initially bitter, the peppery smells come through, definitely oily from the fresh hops. Resins and sticky hop flavors stick all around. Surprisingly though, it is balanced and a nice malt balance pops out. A definite sweetness lies in the beer, but the hop flavor is really more pressing.

M: Sticky, and makes the mouth pucker from the fresh hops. Very nice. Nice lingering bitterness.

D: This one goes down easy, and is one I could spend a while with maybe a few more bombers. One heck of a beer, and easy to drink as well. Very nice.
