2014 Vintage

A: Poured into a snifter to a deep and viscous black topped by a finger of dense dark tan head that fades slowly to a small collar around the edge of the glass
S: Smells of roasted malts, chocolate, coffee and bourbon barrel influence with some caramel and vanilla
T: Taste is caramel and vanilla with some roasted malts, coffee and chocolate as well as a little oak and charred wood. Swallow is more caramel and vanilla barrel influence with some more roasted malt and coffee.
M: This is a big beer with a full mouthfeel and soft carbonation. The beer has a dry finish from the ABV.
O: This beer is top notch. It has great flavors and complexity and drinks pretty well for the ABV. It isn't the greatest BA stout but it's up there. Definitely one to try if you like BA stouts.

L: jet black with dark brown around the edges. Big mocha head with solid retention and lacing
S: oak, coffee, chocolate, toffee, dark fruits
T: smooth chocolate, coffee and oak...very nice
F: heavy with above average carbonation for a barrel aged beer
O: awesome beer. Well balanced and complex with a nice combination of the barrel, chocolate, coffee, toffee and dark fruits all blended together. Definitely worth seeing out.

If you're into big ol' boozy imperial stouts, this has what you're looking for. Loads of sweet on the nose and brutally intense malt boldness. I'd like to get another one of these to age.

Purchased a 375ml bottle from the brewery last summer for about $15. Just now drinking it after about a year in the bottle. Pours jet black as advertise with little carbonation.
Smell is slightly sweet and chocolatey with alcohol prevalent. Taste is very malty with some coffee and chocolate. Goes down fairly easy for such high ABV but aftertaste has a bit of a burn. Not as heavy or full flavoured as I thought it would be. More of a roasted malt bomb of stout. Not syrupy like some BB stouts with decent feel and body. Overall a huge disappointment for such a rare, expensive beer.

pours a deep black in color with slight mocha head and very little lacing. The usual smells and tastes found in Imperial Stouts: Chocolate, coffee, vanilla and bourbon....ah the delicious bourbon. The alcohol is awesome in this brew. Highly recommended.

Had this on my want list for a while. Poured from bottle into glass.

Dark black pour, with a nice half-finger brown head.

Lots of chocolate and oak from the barrels. Roasted coffee beans come through

Taste goes along well with the nose. This tastes great! Loads of chocolate and coffee, with a nice balance of vanilla. The oak really pairs well in this beer.

Medium-heavy body with strong carbonation.

Great beer that I would definitely purchase again.

Pitch black, absolutely no head.

The aroma is big and bold with lots of nutty bourbon, roasted malts, cookie dough, caramel and some alcohol.

The flavor is sweet and warming. I love the integration of the dark caramel and cookie dough malty backbone and the bourbon in this one. Notes of chocolate, almonds and vanilla. Ends warming and bitter with lingering notes of bourbon.

Full-bodied and chewy. No carbonation whatsoever, which is really a shame since it is obvious that the flavors are hindered by this.

This is a real treat, but it would be so much better with a little Co2.

2009 bottle

A: an inky black with hints of brown around the edge, no carbonation or head.

S: like smelling a melted hershey bar.

T: a blast of chocolate that slowly fades to hints of oatmeal/coffee/caramel... reminds me of chocolate chip pancakes!

MF/D: extremely flat but incredibly smooth for how thick it looks, some lasting heat. wish it was capped since the cork lost it its carbonation... barf.
