Poured into a Celebrator pokal. Pours dark red-brown with ruby notes and a two finger light khaki head with great retention and solid lacing; looks nice. Aroma of dry caramel and bready malt, brown bread, dates and raisins. Flavor is dry caramel malt, brown whole wheat bread, dates, raisins and light grassy hops in the finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. The flavor profile is solid doppelbock with an authentic tasting malt that has the expected breadiness, caramel and dark dried fruit with a little hoppy bitterness in the finish. Flavor depth is a bit mellow and restrained, but the lighter flavor has a nice profile. Nice touch of bitterness in the finish. Not a replacement for the German classics, but a good Italian take on the style. Pleasantly surprised.

The pour is cola colored with a fair amount of carbonation. The body is medium & the taste is burnt molasses, brown sugar, & dark pumpernickel bread. In general, this was a splendid bock beer indeed. There is no date on the bottle, so I have drop a few points on the final rating. Cheers! B

On tap at a booth at Artigiano in Fiera in Milan. Deep reddish-brown; tight little head that hangs around rather well. Sweet malty aroma. Figgy flavor. Nearly creamy feel. For a mass-produced beer, I deem it outstanding.

During a few days of vacation in southern Tyrol, I looked for beers made there. Forst brand was the one I liked the most. That yes, a beer without much quality. I expected to find better beer.

Had in Italy in a 2015 trip and probably only because it is listed on the "1001."

-tap pour-dark brown with dark carbonation, a bit turgid. Aroma of caramel and a waft of allspice. Flavor of dark malt, spice and some roasted nuttiness. A bit sweeter than I prefer, but good.
