Poured from a 50 cl can into a pint glass. Bottom of can marked best by June 5th, 2008.

Not a lot to say about this one. It's your typical euro magro lager. Pours a pale yellow color with a fizzy head. Very faint hops taste although the malt is quite a bit richer than the typical American brewed macro lager. A decent option if looking for something in this category.

Three finger white compact head. It sinks slowly leaving no lacing. The liquid is clear and its colour is gold (7 EBC).

The smell is malty with some stale notes of paper. It is rather sweet. It is quite insipid.

The taste got a neutral malt sweetness. Notes of grains. It is quite clean. Light body. Growing notes of paper in the after-taste as well as some bitter flavours. The finish is sweet.

The carbonation is strong; the mid-sized bubbles are short-lived. Semi-smooth liquid.

Lots of paper flavours. Otherwise an OK beer in this style.

A note on the name: Arboga is an old, small village in Sweden. In the late 1400th century an army is said to have been late for a battle after drinking the notorious strong beer in the town. Hence the (partly untranslatable) saying “"It turns back like Arboga beer"”.

I was at the local "Systembolaget" (the state-monopoly-store for alcohol in Sweden), and saw Arboga at three different ABV. My hopes aren't high but to night I'm going to try one of each...

This one comes in a yellow and golden striped 50 cl can with a black eagle on top.

A: Pours golden with a pretty large soapy white head that dissipates unevenly, leaving some lacings.

S: Sweet malt with a touch of corn. Faint bitter hops and even fainter citric notes.

T: Sweet, bready malt at first then lots of corn. Almost nothing else.

M: Aftertaste is short, but holds some bitterness. Body is creamy but rather thin and carbonation is medium.

D: Well, as I tought; this is not a beer with anything interesting going on. A typical "stor stark" (Swedish for "a large beer", which means just any macro beer on tap at the bar).

The beer is dark golden with a rather large white head that settles a bit unevenly but leaves rather good lacing.

The smell is a bit metallic sour, possibly a bread nuance.

Upfront rather sweet, candy sugar, a faint citric precense and a short bitter tang. Remaining is a fading alcoholic sweetness.

Rather low carbonation, a bit sticky and oily.

Sweet and vaguely alcoholic, no character to talk about.
