Tasty but at the same time a little mawkish. Lacks character. Extremely drinkable.

Sampling this pale ale served chilled into a tulip glass.

A: It's a pale, light and clean, just as you can expect from a pale ale. Little foam that shrinks quickly when poured into the glass.

S: Nice hoppy smell, just as it appearance it's clean and what you could expect. Nothing strange going on here.

T: Good hoppy taste that and leaves a little bitter taste at the end left on your tongue. This ale got great drinkability just like other beers from St: Eriks.

M: This ale swirls around in your mouth and goes down easy. The little bitterness that is left can turn out a little metallic as from lager beers do sometimes.

O: Good clean pale ale that is what you can expect, a nice one to have a couple of.

330ml bottle served in a half pint glass

A: Pours a yellowish, antique pine colour with a nice fluffy white head, about half an inch when poured that lasts leaving a heavy lacing around the glass.

S: Sweet and hoppy aroma. Fruity with citrus and tropical fruits most obvious.

T: As above with tropical and fruity tastes to begin with, hoppy bitterness towards end which lingers in the aftertaste.

M: A bit light and fluffy on the palate with a mild carbonation.

O: Light, fresh and drinkable.

S:t Eriks Pale Ale, ABV: 4.5%.
330 ml (beautiful) bottle, 16.90 SEK at Systembolaget.

Appearance: A somewhat hazy golden, almost orange colour. The head is white and small, nearly non-existing at the start, but it grows, to soon fade away.

Smell: A very pleasant hoppy and fruity aroma on the nose. Tropical fruits like pineapple, but mostly peach, and perhaps even some grapefruit.

Taste: Hops are dominant, but not too overwhelming. The peach from the nose is still present. Notes of citrus peels, bread, and some juniper. There's even something sweet and oily (in a good way).

Medium-high bitterness and medium-low body.

Mouthfeel: On the thin side, both with the body and the carbonation, but this of course makes it quite drinkable. A nice, bitter finish.

Overall: A Swedish take on an American style of beer - to celebrate the 4th of July in the southern forests of Sweden. As it's kind of a light pale ale, I'd prefer to drink it outside during the summer months - with grilled, lighter meats, or on its own.

A: This beer is golden with a very small white head. No lacings.

S: Loads of American hops, both floral and bitter. Lemon sezt together with pine, pineapple and grapefruit. Doughy sweet bread.

T: Sweet malt, caramell - gives it a doughy sweet sensation (not necessarily a bad thing). Pine and citrus from the hops, nice bitterness as well. The floral hops brings; pineapple, lemon sezt and grapefruit - some faint green apples as well.

M: Aftertaste is quite nice; long-lasting and bitter, but also doughy. Body is medium and carbonation mild.

O: Not bad; kind of nice balanced.

A nice golden color. White foam, stays a bit then disappears.

Smell brings about a hop inferno, and not in the good way. A little medicinal and some other off-flavors too.

Taste is better, and bitter. Before I even get a chance to fell something else the bitterness is there. Hop flavors are good, herby and some citrus, but not balanced against anything else. A bit too sharp.

This beer feels way too thin, probably because of the imbalance between hops and sweetness.

Too little hop flavor and too much bitterness. And no body to balance it with.

The colour is gold with a tint of orange. The liquid is clear. The two finger head is off-white. It sinks slowly leaving no lacing.

The taste is hoppy and a bit fat. Lots of lemon and lemon peels. Sweet bread and dough. Hints of solvents and detergents. Maize oil and orange jam.

The taste is a little oily, too. The flavours are as hop-centric as the St Eriks beers tend to be. Citrus, lemons, bitter oranges. Some cereals and a mild sweetness. Medium bitterness and medium body. The aftertaste is hoppy with a growing bitterness and hints of bitter orange jam. The finish is clean and bitter.

The carbonation is medium strong; the many bubbles small. The liquid is a bit light.

A nice and uncomplicated APA with fine citric flavours.

A: Clear golden amber, white lacing foam. Large thick crown.

S: Fruits, hops and citrus.

T: Fast bitter bite, citrus tones and a small malty undertone. The citra hops is really treated well. However, it could be a bit more body to it.

M: Medium carbonated.

Probably the definition of average. A good beer in most cases but nothing more. You will not be disappointed however.

The brew is deep golden, has a white fluffy head that settles slowly and leaves some lacing.

The smell is fresh citric, lime, green apples.

Sweet, dextrose, white bread, grape-fruit, lime zest.

Medium carbonation, intense small bubbles, a medium body, soft fluid, and a dry finish.

One of the better S.t Erik IMHO, fresh, clean, well balanced.

My first review. Yay! Don't kill me if it's a bad one.

A: Golden yellow with a little bit of brown color in it. A rather thick foam (about 3-4 centimetres). The foam sinks away rather slowly, leaving some lacing.

S: Lots of tropical fruits, especially peach, with some notes of grapefruit.

T: Again the tropical fruit with emphasis on peach, some buttery tones, hints of flowers and minerals. Aftertaste is elegant with cocoa-like bitterness.

M: Highly drinkable, clean and smooth liquid. Medium carbonation.

An OK beer, but I'm a little doubtful about the peach smell and taste. The text on the bottle says that it is brewed with a citra hops. I'll have to find other beers with it to see if it's usual with such heavy peach notes.
