Hazy pale gold from the bottle with a thin, wispy head that quickly fades. Zesty on the nose with lots of lemon and lime notes. A hint of spicy, phenolic Saison yeast emerges from the background as the beer warms, but it isn't easy to pick out. Medium-bodied and quenching, this seasonal from Peak offers the slightest touch of malty sweetness along with some wheat character and more lemon-lime. Interesting, if a little monochromatic. It finishes semi-dry with a citrusy linger. Overall, Citrus Saison is summer sipper worth trying.

A: The beer is relatively clear light yellow in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high bright white head that slowly died down, leaving a collar around the edge and a patch of the bubbles in the center.
S: Moderately strong aromas of lemon citrus are present in the nose. The smell is so lemony that it's almost like you are sniffing a lemon cleaning solution.
T: Just like the smell, the taste is dominated by flavors of lemon citrus and also seems to have some bits of lime zest and hints of spices in the finish.
M: It feels a bit more than light-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: Given the very light body of this beer, it is extremely easy to drink and a perfect beverage for a hot summer day. However, it seems to be a little one-dimensional as a saison

12 ounce bottle poured into a tulip.

Appearance: Pours a semi-cloudy yellow with a big white head. Fair amount of carbonation.

Aroma: Lots of lemons in the nose. "Citrus" had me expecting oranges, but it's heavy on lemons, and a little grapefruit. Also a little zest.

Taste: This beer has some nice dry flavor, with that lemony taste very present. It's not especially citrus-like or even saison-like, but it is tasty and refreshing.

Mouthfeel: Pretty light. Summery depth.

Overall: Nice offering from Peak, which makes a lot of beers I enjoy, if only one or two that I really love. Of their recent "wacky saison" offerings, I liked the ginger saison much more, but this is pleasant. I paired it with BBQ tofu, baked beans and veggies. It worked fine.

A- 12oz poured into a goblet with a hazy, as if from wheat, pale yellow body. A frothy head shoots up to just over a finger but falls rather quickly. A few sparse rings of lace.

S- Intense lemon with a sharp zestiness side-by-side with a very spicy Saison yeast strain dropping notes of banana esters and clove spiciness; phenolics pretty strong here. A hint of wheat crust.

T- Opens with a very strong citrus zest presence that is mostly lemon peel but also has a slight lime character as well. Wheat bread, deep Belgian yeast spice, crackers, banana, cloves, peppercorn and a hint of sweetness underneath the citrus and in the finish.

MF- Puffs up on the palate immediately upon taking a sip with a foamy creamy consistency like a pillow. This texture results from a moderate to high end carbonation. Slight spicy bitterness.

Very intense citrus flavors but overall the feeling is authentic even if a bit out of balance. The lemon and lime tones help take some emphasis off of what would be a very strong ester, phenolic yeasty Saison base resulting in a solid, balanced effort.

On-tap 1/14/2016 at Doherty’s Ale House in Warwick, RI, served in a tapered pint glass.

A: The beer is a light gold color, with a large white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains fruity citrus, Belgian yeast, some hops, caramelized malts and some spice.

T: The taste starts out with a lot more spice than you get from the smell. Then some citrus and caramel sweetness follows along with some breadiness from Belgian yeast and a hearty but not too heavy malt character. The hops presence is mild but complementary and brings a decent balance. The after-taste is slightly bready and slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: A little tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, very mild kick, good representation of style, this is a solid beer to drink for a while.

BTLD 06/26/14

A: Pours a semi-hazy straw yellow color with a fingers worth of bubbly head that quickly fades down to nothing

S: Lots of lemon along with more citrus and wheat notes. Very fruity and spritzy

T: Quite a bit more complex than the nose leads on to. Starts off with the lemon and other citrus notes but then goes into a light spiciness with some yeasty notes that jazz it up a little. Wheat comes along as well, finishing with a light barnyard and a little more lemon and citrus

M: Light-medium bodied with plenty of carbonation

O: More of a APWA or witbier than saison. Not really any defining saison characteristics except for maybe the notes at the end. It's more along the lines of a lemon-forward citrus beer. Still a pretty good summer brew and it's very refreshing and easy to drink
