Evergreen IPA is built from Peak’s flagship IPA, but enhances the hoppy pine notes by blending in organic juniper berries and organic spruce. The result is a unique IPA with bright pine and resin hop character. The finish is distinctly crisp, begging for another sip.

Pours a bright gold color, somewhat cloudy with a cream colored silky one finger head.

Aroma is bright and fresh with citrus and pine notes.

Taste is immediately on the tongue a bit bitter, then the sweet malts and lemon-grapefruit notes rush in nicely. Near the finish is when the juniper/pine flavor starts to grow and that remains in the finish along with a touch of sweetness.

Mouthfeel is very soft - maybe oat flakes? Bitterness is moderate to high, which is a departure for IPAs around these parts these days.

Overall this is a really refreshing beer and I could see reaching for one of these in the summer. Good job in it - deserves a rating higher than 4 (is 3.93 now).

This beer pours a clear amber with a smallish head. The aroma features pine, orange peel, black tea, and a hint of vanilla. The flavor is very vibrant, with tones of pine, spruce, orange peel, caramel, mango, cannabis, and wintergreen. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with bold, fizzy carbonation. Overall this is a really tasty and balanced beer, with loads of flavor and really solid bitterness.

A thanks to the captain of the canquest, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a rich golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is dominated by pine. Taste is pine, minty, some resin, moderate bitterness. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent beer.

i am a bit partial to spruce beers, especially hoppy ones, i think there is a natural synergy there, and so i may be a bit partial to the style, but i thought this beer was awesome. it had been a long time since i had a beer from these guys, and i dont ever remember being overly impressed, so this was a wonderful surprise! the base ipa is solid, sturdy, balanced by a flavorful but dry malt complexion, and with enough bitterness to linger a bit after the swallow but not too intense to be a real crusher. with that, the juniper and spruce additions contribute quite a lot. the pine aroma is really fresh, christmasy, just cut, essential oily, and somehow seems to lighten this beer up while also making it insanely appetizing to me. the juniper also smells fresh, lightly medicinal and astringent, raw, heavily aromatic. they come together nicely with the hops in the flavor, this feels rustic and hearty, cold weather beer but also refreshing. its one of the more natural juniper and spruce palates i have known in a beer, really honest to the botanicals, and dosed strongly enough to stand up to all the hops in here. bitter citrus peel and fresh pine to finish, north woodsy, really exceptional around an autumn campfire. perhaps the best beer i have had from these guys, awesome use of the juniper and spruce, and the aftertaste was great and long lasting. yummy!

Pours a clear golden orange color with a tight, white head that leaves little bits of lacing.

Smells of pine and spruce.

Tastes of the pine hops layered over a solid malt base. Hops notes lead off with pine followed by the spruce and juniper. Malts add in caramel notes along with a bit of sweetness. Floral notes add towards the end before more juniper hits and lingers through the finish.

Mouthfeel is medium with a smooth amount of carbonation.

Overall, this is a solid IPA. The spruce and juniper fit nicely, but there could be a bit more oomph from the malts.

And now, the aftermath of the Fourth of CANuly! I had laden my reefer with CANs that day, not really expecting to run through all of them, but more as a stopgap from running out before the day was over. The result is that now, I have a buncha cold CANs that I do not want to simply pull out & have get warm again. Ah, the trials & travails of The CANQuest (tm)! In this instance, I had purchased a duo-pack of this and Crush IPA & since I seem to be immersed in Peak Organic B.C. CANs today, I figured to give this a whirl.

From the CAN: "Pure Ingredients, Delicious Beer".

The Crack! revealed another brimful craft CAN, spraying a spritz across my fingers. I celebrated this little surprise with an inverted Glug, creating two-plus fingers of dense, rocky, tawny head with good retention. Color was solid Amber (SRM = > 7, < 9) with NE-quality clarity. Nose was easily identifiable as pine/evergreen/spruce with a very cool, minty quality. Mmm. Mouthfeel was medium-to-full, big for the style and kind of sticky to boot. The taste was extremely sharp & piney, evocative of Chinook hops, but with the added dimension of added juniper & spruce (according to the six-pack box). It slightly reminded me of those rare occasions when I have had Sahti, but since it does not incorporate hops, the analogy would be imprecise. It was bitter, but not in a citrusy way, making it all the more attractive to this hophead. Finish was dry and quenching, but again, I began to question how many I could drink at one sitting. Since they packaged three (3) EA of both this & Crush, I may try a blend of the two at some point. YMMV.
