Peak Pomegranate Wheat is a refreshing, yet intricate ale brewed with locally grown organic wheat, organic coriander and a touch of organic Pomegranate and Acai juice from our friends at Sambazon. Not as sweet as many fruit beers, the Pomegranate Wheat has a soft, round mouthfeel from the local, un-malted wheat. The spice from the coriander and the subtle sweetness from the Pomegranate and Açai are a perfect complement.

Didnt have the highest hopes for this one (not usually into fruit beer), but was very pleasantly surprised. The color is perfect. Pale, straw, very clear, but just enough to be interesting. Aroma was awesome. A distinct, but faint berry smell comes acroos. Not overwhelming. Just right. Mouthfeel is thin, as it should. The coriander really pops up front, along with the berry, then a faint wheat flavor. This really came together. A nice treat.

Welcome back to my New Odds & Sods Beer Sunday (Week 746)! I just completed a Peak Organic horizontal a few weeks ago & when this one appeared in the singles section at Country Garden 6-Pack, I snapped it up! Plus, it dovetails nicely with the first one of today's adventure. See, there is a method behind the seeming madness!
From the Bottle: "Ale brewed with Organic Pomegranate Juice, Açai Juice and Coriander".
It turned out to have a screwed-up screw-top cap that really let go when I Pop!ped it open, scaring the crap out of me! I had previously agitated it, wanting to get everything back into suspension, having noticed some lees on the kick. It all worked just a bit too well, releasing the cap with a loud BANG as I prised it open & then turning into a gusher before I could get the pour started. Phew! Well, I'm awake now. It finally settled into just over a finger of fizzy, foamy, rocky, tawny head with surprisingly good retention. Color was a hazy Amber to Deep Amber/Light Copper (SRM = > 9, < 13). Nose had a pronounced spiciness & I could not decide whether that was from the coriander, the wheat or a combination thereof. Mouthfeel was medium but very soft. "Subtle sweetness"?!? Hardly! It was more towards tart and spicy, but not bad. I liked the interplay of all of the variegated adjuncts, much more than the previous Pomegranate Hefeweizen, which was too fruity & sweet. Here, the spices kind of dominated, but the fruit was still able to be perceptible. This one is tough to rate to style, which may account for its current score. Finish was dry, as is to be expected when spices are used as adjuncts. It was a fitting find for the day, but unless I see it in a CAN, I am satiated. YMMV.

So a pussy tasting beer. But at 5.9 ABC it's got some kick. It doesn't taste like your typical fruity beer. It's more sour than sweet. Love it and it's usually cheaper than most micro brews. At least in Florida.

My girlfriend and her organics. Not that bad. A bit fruity golden color. Small head. Lightly carbonated. Again. Last time I'll taste this

Smooth but a little too fruity for my taste.

12oz bottle, 5% ABV, and a single from the mixed pack of Peak Organic brews currently available in Alberta.
This beer pours a clear, bright pale golden yellow colour, with three fat fingers of puffy, broadly foamy, and faintly creamy off-white head, which leaves some low-lying ocean swell lace around the glass as it genially recedes.
It smells of semi-sweet dark berry fruit - hard to differentiate the pomegranate and/or acai just yet - bready caramel malt and grainy wheat, a mild savoury spiciness, a touch of phenolic yeast, and earthy, leafy, and weedy hops. The taste is fairly sweet, still muddled pomegranate and acai berry fruit, equally over-sugared wheatiness, a now understated caramel malt, gritty coriander/clove spice, and leafy, grassy, and earthy hops.
The bubbles are quite lively in their charmingly frothy and more workaday fizzy natures, the body an adequate medium weight for the style, and mostly smooth, nothing really getting in the way of that metric here. It finishes on the sweet side, but more or less moderated amongst the blended black fruitiness and equally integrated malt.
Not a bad fruit beer, the guest ingredients ingratiating themselves well enough, without either taking center stage or overpowering the base wheat brew. Tasty for all that, and something I could see killing a number of come backyard BBQ season, which is just too far off on the snowy horizon right now.

A: Pours a golden yellow color with almost no head
S: Pomegranate, açai, and coriander up front with a bit of a wheaty undertone. Some sweet breadiness as well
T: Follows the nose. Starts off with the pomegranate and açai and goes into the coriander and sweet bready and wheaty maltiness. Finishes with a sweetness from both the malt and pom/açai juices
M: Light-medium bodied with moderate carbonation
O: A good wheat beer if you enjoy the mix of pomegranate and açai. Very easy to drink, but pushing the sweetness a little for a wheat beer. Wouldn't mind enjoying this more in the summer

I really want to like Peak Organic beers, but this is another one that is lacking something. Flavors were not right, hard to find something to approve of here. Will not revisit.
