From the bottle poured into a snifter
A - Amber, brown, moderate lacing, the head remains forever!
S - Dark cherry, sweet chocolate
T - Toffee, caramel, hidden chocolate hops come through on the back end
M - perfect! this baby is smooth!
Simply fantastic! One of the, if not the, best winter style beers I can get in the area!

Just too heavy for my taste, and for what I expected. I'm no expert, but this one was rather on the syrupy side and felt more akin to a chocolate porter. Overall just not my thing.

I'm always on the lookout for a satisfying "everyday" beer-- one that's super enjoyable given the occasion, doesn't break the bank, I'm not hammered after one bottle--- and I'm not embarrassed serving to my buds.
I've got a couple diverse styles-- and here's another for that list.
The beer's got a nice foundation of hops, has a bit of a citrus note, satisfying flavor body and a nice finish and mouthfeel.
It's become a go-to beer for me-- just as I stated in my opening-- and everyday beer-- not exception, mind blowing, but satisfying-- when I don't want to drain my wallet and I can't decide I reach of this one-- so far I haven't been disappointed.

I picked this 6 pack up on whim a while back and I've had most of the pack so far despite not having reviewed it until now. I just chalk it up to laziness. Anyhow, I think this one is just okay, a little too hoppy for a winter warmer, but it still deserves a proper review

Pours a cloudy dark amber with 2 fingers of beige head that slowly fades to a cap and leaves moderate lacing

The nose has lots of citrus hops, red malt, toasted bread, and caramel. It smells a little medicinal and floral, but it's not all that bad

The front end of the sip brings a moderate amount of toast and some light toffee. The swallow brings just an overkill of hops and pale malt, just a touch of nutty sweetness to balance it but otherwise not great

A medium body with no carbonation, this at least drinks smooth, but is hardly palatable given the aftertaste. Finishes mostly dry

Like I said to start it off, this one is not very good. Sure, it’s passable, but the hops kill the balance here, and that’s coming from a hop head. It would’ve been way better with more malty sweetness

Great tasting fun dark beer for all occassions! Dark ale nicely hopped as true old English beers were meant to be! Perfect! This is in the Stingo class! Nice going, Pugsley!

On tap at the Portland jetport.

Dark brown/red. Clear. A little lacing. Foam ring and light foam island.

Served a little cold so aroma suffers but Carmel and bread notes appear after warming.

There seems to be a slight smokey flavor in addition to malt and carmel.

Tingling carbonation feel. Medium body.

Pretty decent for an airport beer.

The dark redish amber beer pours out into a shaker pint glass with a 1/4" off white head that recedes slowly leaving a ring of foam around the glass and some islands of lacing on the surface. Sipping leaves scattered small patches of lacing.

The aromas include some caramel from the malt, some roasted nuts with some touches of and there are some spices such as clove in the background but definitely noticable.

The flavors are much as expected from the nose with the caramel, the roasted nuts and spices all showing. The well controlled sweetness from the malt is nicely blended with some earthy bitterness.

The mouthfeel is medium bodied and fairly smooth with the persistent gentle carbonation. The medium length finish begins as the caramel, nut and spices fade to a slightly bitter semi-dry ending.

On the whole this is a fairly good winter warmer that I'd be willing to have again since it is smooth and easy to drink and the ABV is really large. It is a bit temperature sensitive in that the flavors open up and get a bit more complex as the beer warms. Not the best winter warmer I've tried but is still one worth trying.

12 oz bottle. Pours dark red with tall, long lasting, fluffy, off-white head and nice lacing. Aroma is of grassy hops, red fruit, and caramel malt. Body is medium and crisp. Taste is of herbal hops, spices, caramel malt and ripe fruit. Finish is long, Robitussin like. Yak.
