From notes taken a few weeks ago.

Poured into tulilp.

Pours a clear, deep copper. A healthy brownish-white head with good retention sticks around.

Aroma is sweet malts, fruity hops apparent right from cracking the bottle, grapefruit, some booze. Sweet overall.

Starts bitter than sweet, some caramel, some citrus, a little pine. Overall not too bitter, I expected more hops. Apv is masked well, just a slight and pleasant warming toward the end of a sip.

This beer has a heavier mouthfeel with medium carbonation.

Overall this is a strange ipa to me, there is more sweetness than I expect but this is balanced alright with bitterness. Good for the price and a interesting brew.

Appearance - This poured a thick brown in color with a tinge of orange and almost no head at all. The liquid looked great but the top was AWOL.

Smell - There's some nice citrus hops in the nose but nothing too powerful. The surprise for me was the malt. I expect a big, juicy malt contribution to the DIPA nose and instead it's more like a strong English bitter.

Taste - Egad, this is more like en English Ale. The hops are herbal with some mild citrus notes but are way too small for the style. Where are the DIPA malts? This is supposed to be a big beer with a big malt base and it's toasty and putrid.

Mouthfeel - This is medium-bodied with some mild carbonation and an English bitterness that could kill a horse.

Sinkability - I don't know where all of the 4+ reviews are coming from; this beer was crap.

A: The beer is crystal clear amber in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high off white head that died down, leaving thick lacing on the surface, a collar around the edge, and webs of bubbles down the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of biscuit and caramel malts are present in the nose.
T: Similar to the smell, the overall taste is mostly dominated by flavors of biscuity and caramel malts. There is just a slight amount of bitterness, but the hops mostly serve to mask any associated sweetness from the malts.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer tastes like an Imperial English India Pale Ale, if there was such a style since it isn't very hoppy. It is rather drinkable as it hides any traces of alcohol.

Poured into my Zatec Fluted Glass. About a finger of head. A dark amber color typical of IIPA. Nice nose of sweet caramel, malt, floral hop, and alcohol. Definitely on the sweet malt side of things, alcohol is evident. Finish is weak, very watery. More carbonated than I'd expect from a 9+ beer. I don't imagine I could handle more than a 22 oz in one sitting.

A flavorful double IPA that isn't too sweet

Appearance: Clear copper with a light beige head

Smell: Fragrant malty; sweet

Taste: Maltiness up front with a hop kick, sweet/citrus in the finish

Mouthfeel: Lingering, bitter, dry finish

Drinkability: Versatile; may pair well with spicier or heavy meals.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: Reddish amber color, with an off white head, mild lacing on the glass.

Smell: Sweet honey, hops, citrus and pine.

Mouthfeel/Taste: Smooth medium bodied. Taste of honey, with bitter pine and hops, mild citrus.

Overall: Not a bad take on an Imperial IPA, the sweet honey like flavor is nice. I like it but it is not my first choice.

This was delicious. My girlfriend picked it up for me at work.

Appearance- amber color, beautiful head retention, good lacing

Smell- piney hops

Taste- Hops, malt, strong for an IPA(which I like)

Mouthfeel- medium bodied

Drinkability- very nice, I thoroughly enjoyed this as I usually do enjoy IPAs.

On tap at Sunset Cantina in Boston. Served in a tulip glass.

Pours a clear copper with a wonderful head that leaves behind a perfect lace. It's hard to get a better pour than this.

The nose is a little rotten, smelling of spoiled cherries, sweat, hay, and maple syrup. Not at all the hoppy nose I was expecting.

The mouth is pretty uninteresting. Lots of malts, this is fat more like a double pale ale than a double ipa. A tad syrupy and very boozy, it's a bit dark in the mouth with almost no hop presence. Surely they are there, I just can't fins them.

Overall a huge disappointment. Far too much alcohol foe not enough complexity of flavor. Don't bother.

Pours a cloudy copper with orange highlights and a dense and frothy khaki head.
Sweet grain in the nose with a hint of bright citrus and other fruitiness with some lingering boozy notes.
Chewy malt flavors on the palate gives a sweetness upfront that crawls to a fruity and bitter hoppy finish. There are notes of apple, apricot, and a bit of earthiness with some bitter juicy grapefruit, followed by a syrupy sweet alcohol finish.
It is a heavy bodied beer, chewy yet bright flavors offset the heavy mouthfeel. This is really a redeeming beer after that Shipyard Pumpkin I had last year. The complex and perpetually unfolding flavors with each sip demand the next. Needless to say, the bottle went fast.

12 oz bottle poured into a standard pint glass. Best before May 2011. Pours a beautiful dark honey color w/ amazing head and sticky lacing. Smell is very pungent w/ oranges. The taste matches, has an English influence. This is a very sweet brew, and becomes sweeter as it warms up. Thick syrupy mouthfeel. Drinkability is not the best.

This brew definitely is borderlining a barleywine. This is a solid effort, I suppose it depends on what you look for in a DIPA.

A- Semi aggressive pour produces a 1-1/2 finger head that dissapates rather quick leaving nice lacing. Beer is a hazy golden- with light brown hints. good looking beer.

S- Faint hop scent with a caramely malt balancing it out

T- The malt and hop balance is pretty good on this IPA, but I think for an "IPA" this is a little too malt forward. Initially tastes of grapefruit, orange zest, balanced by a very nice malt backbone. Very slight bitterness on finish. Not even the slightest hint of alcohol whatsoever, not even a slight heat, which is remarkable for a beer of 9.25% abv. This is a very good beer, but not a great representation of an IPA in my opinion. More like a srtong APA. But I'm not going to knock points off for not adhering to the style purely because I thought this was a very good, well balanced beer.

M- Very nice carbonation. Nice slick finish

O- A good beer but too malt forward. I like my hops to dominate in an IPA and this was not the case in this beer. Still an excellent beer though.

A- Smooth pour without much head and a nice deep amber color but not as dark as I thought it would be

S- Usual IPA...flowers and some sugar and cherry

T- Brown sugar taste, very sweet, with a smokey ending

M- Smoother and lighter than I expected. Not as bold and not as much but either.

D- Easy to drink but the high ABV would make that tough
