Poured into a glass. Coppery with little head and no lacing as I drank it. Tastes like pumpkin pie with spices and a little sweetness. Only real complaint is that the alcohol has a tendency to overwhelm the taste of the beer as it warms up.

Avg appearance. Light golden brown, started with a thin head, followed by abundant effervescence. Light hop and spice aroma. Flavor was very pleasant. Nothing overpowered, smooth and blended. Found the pumpkin early but that faded 1/3 way through giving way to spices.

A beautiful burnt orange color with a 1/2 finger of head.

Aromas of fresh gourd and spices, brown sugar, nutmeg.

Flavor is gourdy, with some pie spices and a tall alcohol presence. The largest factor here is the dry malts and alcohol. Most of the spices have fell off by now, but it's still a relatively exciting pumpkin beer.

Feel is dry like rubbing alcohol, a biting carbonation that fades flat after a few moments.

Overall, it's pretty decent. I'd have it again if I had the chance to nab another. ;-)

Appearance: Large, dense, and persistent tan head, Belgian-style lacing adorns the glass walls. The body is a hazy reddish-gold, there is faint sediment, and minute, profuse, slow-rising carbonation.

Aroma: Bubblegum and pumpkin pie spices dominate the aroma, there are also bourbon notes, and hints of vanilla, maple syrup and wood. The alcohol offers a strong presence.

Taste: Opens with a wave of bourbon and brown sugar. The alcohol is quite prominent and very warming. Pumpkin pie spices are present, but are secondary to the bourbon and dark rum flavors. The bubblegum noted in the aroma is present as well, no doubt a product of the yeast. The finish is dominated by brown sugar, booze and woody notes.

Mouth feel: Smooth, soft, and full, with delicate carbonation.

Drinkability/notes: Certainly not a typical pumpkin ale, but very good, nonetheless.

Presentation: Packaged in a twenty-two ounce brown glass bomber sealed with a twist-off crown, unusual for a bomber. Served in a New Belgium Brewing chalice.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. Small head that dissipates quickly. Moderate carbonation. Copper-orange color that is semi-transparent. Aroma is nutmeg, cinnamon, spice, pumpkin pie with some hints of malt. Can definitely taste the 9% ABV but it's not overpowering. Not as strong on the pumpkin pie taste as i would have assumed from the smell. It's there but can get much more of the biscuity malts. Mouthfeel is full ..almost syrupy. Overall a very good pumpkin ale that i assume would mess me up if i had another!

The smell of pumpkin and booze is there. The color is quite nice at a polished bronze look. The flavor is mild pumpkin but it really reminds me of flavored whiskey that is artificially flavored. Almost a chemical taste. Not a really good experience for me. Not a good pumpkin beer for me. Shipyard is a great company but this needs a little more time to perfect the taste. This just doesn't pair well with any food I can think of. I just cannot recommend this even with a cinnamon and sugar rimmed glass.

I am not a huge fan of pumpkin beers, but tis the season... This is definitely one of the best pumpkin beers I have sampled. The flavors remind me of pumpkin pie but also wrap around a very well made brew. Definitely glad I found this in my latest six pack of the month selection!
