Bottle received from my parents after their trip to Maine.

Pours a hazy light orange, with a fizzy one inch head, and some lacing down the glass.

Smells include the typical pumpkin pie spices- nutmeg, cinnamon, clove, etc. Very strong on the spices, smells quite sweet.

The taste is similar- ton of ginger, cinnamon, a bit of vanilla, nutmeg, clove. Not a whole lot of actual pumpkin flavor. Some caramel malt flavor as well, with a ton of sugary sweetness.

Medium bodied, high carbonation, starts and finishes sweet. Fairly drinkable, but gets cloying as it warms.

Not the best pumpkin ale ever, but this one still works relatively well.

A: Cloudy orange, foamy head with good retention and respectable lacing. Upon the pour there was a carbonation miasma deep below the surface, almost like a Guinness- cool. Later on the carbonation lessened, only a few visible bubbles.

S: Fresh juicy pumpkin and spices that are very fragrant and appetizing, but a bit of a bitter scent permeates through, too. They work decently together.

T: Freshly picked pumpkin, unfortunately that means an unwashed pumpkin that contributes an unfortunate dirty earth flavor- peaty. Good amount of spicing from all the usual suspects; cinnamon and allspice, a few other minor players. There is some malt present too, presenting itself as toffee and mixing in quite well. Finish is pretty nice, the spices become more apparent, but that earthy bitterness lingers on- some hops influence to be sure. I suppose it is a balanced pumpkin ale, I just personally don't care for the palate of the ale parts in it that much.

M: Just fine. Good carbonation, ample crispness, good fluidity.

O: A good pumpkin ale, I would drink it again, not sure about buying it again when there are so many other options that are more economical. Glad I had it, won't be hooked on it.
