Pours a clear gold color. 1/4 inch head of an off-white color. Slight retention and poor lacing. Smells of strong fruit, pale malt, and slight sweet malt. Fits the style of a Fruit/Vegetable Beer. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of strong fruit, pale malt, slight citrus hops, slight sweet malt, and a medicinal sharpness/metallic. Overall, weak appearance, aroma, body, and blend.

This is a very refreshing fruit based beer. If you like lighter beers with a nice fruity after taste, this one will be a home run.
It is great at what it is brewed for. Crisp and clean.

Shipyard is one of those brewers I really want to like more but it just falls short of my expectations...

Right out of the bottle it pours a nice burnt caramel color but the head simply doesn't want to form. The most appealing part of this brew is the smell - strong notes of melon, sweet, with only a distant hint of hops. The feel is mostly light, very watery, but otherwise good enough and the taste has a distinct flavor of watermelon but it only marginally blends well with the hops and malts. Overall, it's not a great beer but it certainly is one to have on hand by the pool or at the beach on a hot summer's day.

P- Poured from a 12 oz bottle,into a Funky Buddha snifter.Born on 03/07/2017.

L- Frothy white colored head that stands a half a finger tall, with low retention and minimal lacing.Gold colored body with good clarity.Low amount of carbonation.

S- On the nose I get mostly candied watermelon, with trace elements of sweet malt notes. For the most part it smells like a watermelon jolly rancher.

T- On the palate I get watermelon up front, sweet candied watermelon in the middle, and bready malt with wheat on the back end.

F- The mouth feel is thin with a watery texture, and medium to high amount of carbonation.Smooth on the finish.

This isn't a bad beer, but it's not really something I would drink all the time either. The watermelon has a bit of an artificial taste and smell to it.Not bad,but not great. But try it for yourself would be my recommendation.

12oz bottle - so, another fruit beer whose only indicator of said fruit adjunct is, um, 'flavor', at the very end of the not so helpful ingredient list.

This beer pours a clear, medium golden yellow colour, with a teeming tower of puffy, finely foamy, and somewhat fizzy dirty white head, which leaves a bit of low-lying coral reef atoll lace around the glass as it quickly blows off.

It smells of candied watermelon and honeydew (think Starburst), those cellophane-wrapped sugary strawberry things, grainy pale malt, and a touch of earthy and unpleasantly musty green hop bitters. The taste is more of the same - sugary and candy-like watermelon, strawberry, and cantaloupe/honeydew fruitiness, some wan wheaten cereal malt, and pretty much nothing in the way of offsetting hop bitterness that is overt, but you gotta expect that it's there somewhere, in a quotidian background role.

The carbonation is quite forward in its palate-taunting frothiness, the body a decent middleweight, and mostly smooth, with a nice airy creaminess arising shortly after things start to warm up a tad. It finishes well off-dry, the mixed melon fruitiness barely wavering at all, y'all!

Overall, this is enjoyable enough, I suppose, if you've got a melon candy sweet tooth hard-on, or the like, and want it fawning all over yer brew. For the rest of us, however, I'll leave the sweet bonbons to my toddler, while daddy goes and kills a real beer, one with hops that are not at all ashamed to be a large part of the show.
