750ml bottle - apparently this one is worth pursuing, according to local beer traders!

This beer pours a hazy, pale golden yellow colour, with three fingers of puffy, tightly foamy, and softly creamy eggshell white head, which leaves some randomly splattered snow rime lace around the glass as it slowly recedes.

It smells of somewhat funky white cheese, doughy pale malt, a further earthy and edgy yeastiness, white pepper and a few of its indistinct spice shelf friends, muddled tropical fruit, and zesty leafy and floral green hop bitters. The taste is bready, doughy, and crackery pale malt, a gently acerbic dirty gym socks funkiness, some lemongrass-led citrus character, mixed table-top spice (if your table was in India, that is), waning earthy yeast, and more leafy, floral, and lightly herbal hoppiness.

The carbonation is fairly active in its probing and teasing frothiness, the body a decent medium weight, and sort of smooth, the yeast, hops, and spice alike not exactly looking where they are going here. It finishes trending dry, as the lingering melange of flavours just seems to possess that innate sense of direction, y'know?

Wow, a pretty heady and enjoyable version of the style, and a veritable kitchen sink (in more than one way) of robust tastiness. Fruity, yeasty, funky, adequately malty, spicy, and hoppy - all held together by a weird balancing force. Very worthy of checking out if you are a fan of this sort of thing, I would duly imagine.

A - Normal pour into a chalice producing an unfiltered, golden straw colored brew sporting a 1" inch ivory colored head with moderate head retention. Moderate to high carbonation. Moderate lacing. Attractive brew.

S - Hops, malt, and honey. Sour apricot note. Bready sweet saison funk.

T - Bitter hop and honey, perhaps some malt, with an IPA floral finish. Bready aftertaste. Slight apple notes. Absent sour apricot note and bready sweet saison funk.

M - Some linger. Good drinkability. Light mouthfeel but full bodied taste.

D - This brew is very good. Perhaps, it's not designed for the average weekend warrior craft brew aficionado but amazing nonetheless. Looks wise, one of the best brews I've ever seen. Really.

On tap at Le Projet. Hazy orange with a big fluffy head. Smells of bright hops. Citrus and dank hops lend an herbal aroma. Tastes of citrus up front. Some yeastiness behind it. Grassy and herbal hops behind it with a long earthy and grassy bitterness. Medium body. Excellent.

I do love a good Brett saison
Pours a large fizzy bubbly almost 2 finger head with good retention and light streaming bubbles, mostly clear light golden pilsner color, nice soapy lacing

Nose nice Brett funk, light barnyard and hay, straw, a little tart lemony funk, bread dough wheat hay, quite fruity, lots of esters, all kinds of fruit from pome to citrus to a little white berry, a little earthy funk, lemony and grassy floral hops

Taste more grassy hay wheat and a little bready doughy base malt, sweet blond malt but quite dry, effervescent and bright, lots more fruit with a little white berry, pome and tree fruits, some citrus as well with a touch of tartness, an apricot and nectarine like note, fair Brett with tartness, background barnyard funk, hint of phenols, just a touch of alcohol, and some mild grassy floral fruity hop with mild bitterness, very dry finish but a little sour like note, touch bready yeasty finish as well as more grassy hops and a bit more bitterness

Mouth is med bodied, tons of effervescent carb which actually goes overboard and gets distracting, a little flemmy acidic tart finish

Overall pretty nice, good Brett that doesn't bring a lot (like Boulevard Saison Brett although I love that beer) this is more restrained, nice fruits throughout, and hops add a nice touch although they advertise some big hops that I don't really pick up so that's a little bit of a negative, and the overbearing carbonation is another negative, but an enjoyable beer. Unfortunately no bottle date so not sure how old it is and if the hops maybe died off.

Cloudy and golden with slow rising carbonation, and a finger of white head.

Smells of lemon zest, pine, and a solid dankness.

The taste is lemony, citrusy, big and dank and bitter and freshly hopped, green herbs, and some floral notes on the finish which dance briefly on the tongue. Hints of pineapple at moments.

Medium, balanced acidic and bitter tannic, but overall a dry feel. Moderate foamy carbonation.

Excellent hoppy saison by Dunham. Really enjoying this brew Dec 24th in St Jean Port Joli, Quebec.

A: The beer is hazy yellow in color. It poured with a finger high bright white head that died down, but consistently left a short head covering the surface and traces of bubbles running down the sides of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of floral, grassy, and spicy hops along with hints of passionfruit and brett funk.
T: The taste follows the smell and has additional notes of pine in the finish.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: The varieties of hops used in this saison lend to lots of complexities in the smell and taste. I found this beer to be very interesting.

Got this 750ml bottle as part of a shipment from the Rare Beer Club.

Look: transparent for the most part unless you agitate the bottle, golden in color, tiny bubbled and dense head, spotty lacing, pretty.

Smell: stinky citrus fruits, almost a canned fruit quality, some grass, touch of resin, orange peel. Wheaty malt aroma, funky earthy spice character.

Taste: citrus peel up front, no sweetness, mild to moderate bitterness, not tart or acidic, black pepper and rye in the middle to the finish.

Feel: dry first and foremost, crisp, refreshing.

Overall: really nicely hopped saison, has some alcohol bite despite being below 7% which I actually kinda dig. Would buy again. Should not be cellared because the hops are what make this special. If you want a really brett dominated saison to age there are plenty of others to choose from.

Poured from 750 mL bottle into cervoise.
A: Pours a clear pale yellow with moderately high carbonation producing a 3 inch frothy white head with excellent retention.
S: Citrus and pine hops hit from a good foot away, grassy and grainy, hint of brett funk, white pepper, and herbal mint. Definitely a hoppy saison.
T: Funky grapefruit, pine, hint of orange, spicy rye, and a hint of caramel malt. Hops mask too much.
M: Light-medium body. Dry and crisp. Moderately bitter with some funk.
D: I think the combo of the hops plus the brett was a bit much for this brew. The hops in particular masked some of the nice aspects of the saison. Interesting, but not outstanding.

Poured from a seven-fiddy....

Pours a hazy but not quite light-gold color, almost straw hued, but not quite that light. An ample foamy head that persists for quite some time. The lacing is outstanding. A fine-looking beer to be sure, especially for the style--though perhaps a bit light compared to expectations.

Orange rind, lemon zest, and piney hops all waft into the nose at once. The hoppiness is at first pretty strong, but the other notes fill in pretty quickly. Peppery yeast notes and floral aromas fill out the nose. Nice, if a bit subdued, and a little heavy on the hops.

The flavor is a bit sweeter and lacking in complexity compared to the nose. Citrus rinds and hops hit the tongue right away, with apple, pear, white pepper, and champagne notes. But the citrus and hops are a touch heavy-handed, with the hops winning that battle as well. A fine take on the style, but a little more "hoppy" than "sour" for the style. If one was going to identify a typical "Belgian IPA," this might be it.

The mouthfeel is the second-best aspect of the brew (after its look). Light, dry, and crisp, though not thin at all. A nice light -to-medium offering.

Overall, this isn't a classic Saison by any means, with a bit heavy-handed hop treatment, but the attributes are still there to be tasted. It is a very light crisp attractive beer that I would recommend to a hop-head that wants to try a farmhouse.

750 mL bottle poured into a goblet. 52 F.

Gold in colour and quite hazy. A giant, pillowy, white head that faded slowly to an immodest slip of lace.

Delicious hoppy aromas with bright citrus notes and a low funky undertone in support.

Moderate flavours of orange, lemon, white pepper and gentle Brett character. The balance is surprisingly bitter, with distinctly earthy hops, and a very delicate, bready malt. Finishes super dry but somewhat bitter.

Very light-bodied and rather fizzy.
