Nice dark brown color with lots of carbonation and an insanely big beige head with really good retention.
Really nice nose, you get aromas of figs, as well as black fruits, a little tartness. Nice yeast profile, a little bit of hops too and an intense but pleasant alcohol aroma. You almost get drunk only by smelling it.
In the mouth it's fruity and sweet. I like what the figs brings to the taste. A little bit of tartness in the mouth is also present. Intense alcohol flavor in the throat, three sips in and I already feel the effects!
Good mouth feel on the one, good carbonation in the mouth.
Overall it's pretty good but maybe I didn't taste it in the ideal situation, I'm sure it's even better on a cold winter night and not on a hot and rainy august night.

From a 12oz bottle (that's 375ml to our northern brothers), undated. Served in a tulip.
Pours a nearly opaque burnt caramel with murky golden highlights and a lush, billowing, four-finger head that lasts all day. Retention is, apparently, infinite.
Nose is sharp as a knife, industrial cleaning solvent-strength yeastiness, lemon and pear, musty oak, and - I don't think I've used this one before - cookies baking in the forest.
Taste is tart and sweetly sticky, rich, roasty-toasty grains with dried fruit, lemon, pears, allspice, oak and walnuts. There is a sticky saccharine sweetness which clings to the palate.
Feel is medium-bodied, slightly syrupy, and a little fizzy.
Overall, a fine beer for when you just don't have time to sit down and drink two or three normal, sissy beers. Just kidding. No, I'm not. No, OK, seriously: a very, very nice quad; appearance, nose and actual abv (as opposed to perceived abv) are everything you'd expect in a quad but the super approachable taste and mouthfeel, especially the fizziness, make it drinkable like prom punch.

Pours nicely but a bit too lively after only a couple months in a dark cold cellar. Looks decent with a good collar. Nothing very exciting but at the same time a decent beer. For a quad with nice ABV content I really would have expected it to hold up solid but perhaps there are quality control problems. Glad to have tried it but won't be searching for it again.

A:
Pours a cloudy watered-down-coke color that is pretty much black once in the glass with a huge fluffy beige head that sticks around well with teeny tiny bubbles. Great retention; huge chunks of sticky lacing. (4.5)
S:
Ripe red berries with a tartish vinous quality to it. Cherries, currants, red wine, black tea, wood, cinnamon, cloves, doughy yeast. (4)
T:
Rich, earthy sweetness with the lightest fruity tartness in the background, dark bread, oat-like smoothness to the body, sticky dark sweetness from the figs, wood. (4)
M:
Medium-full body with light carbonation and a sticky feel with a touch of warmth from the alcohol, fairly drinkable in general, but definitely a sipper. (4)
O:
Very tasty beer.
The figs definitely add to it and are complimentary to the beer overall. However, I am left wondering what it would be like as a standalone quad. Looks gorgeous in the glass. The nose is very much what you would expect from a quad, with a lot of barrel character. Very tasty with fig flavor coming through as a sticky, substantive sweet backbone. There is a rising alcohol warmth and slight astringency as it warms. A fine example of what Dunham can do when everything falls together just right.
Would have again; worth a try if you see it. (4)

A - Murky deep amber. Good carbonation coming up to fizzley beige head that lacks the density and creaminess that alot of Quads provide. Good spatterings of lace and a finger of retention.
S - Dark fruit, sugar, yeast, baking spice. Vinous when warmer.
T - More dark fruit, lot's of sugar, and more spice in the finish. Vinous note gets stronger as it warms. Alcohol.
M - Dry in the finish. Good carbonation, medium to full body. Smoothness and rich flavour emerges with warming.
O/D - A pretty nice Quad. Not the most complex or fruit forward, but it's done well. Smooth and drinkable for it's ABV. Dunham has done no wrong here.

Bottle: Poured a cloudy dirty brown color ale with a medium size brown foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma of candi sugar with dry fruits notes and light candy ester is quite enticing. Taste is also dominated by candi sugar, light dry figs and raisins notes with some candy ester. The red wine barrel add some complexity without dominating too much or adding too much funky notes. Body is little bit thin for style with good carbonation with no apparent alcohol. This is a beer I wouldn’t mind having on a more regular basis.
