Serving: Bottle
Date: April 2016
A:
Pours an impenetrable inky black with 3-4 fingers of mocha head. Excellent retention; sticky lacing. (4.25)
S:
Toasty malts and dark fruits, molasses, rubbing alcohol. (3.75)
T:
Charcoal and butane with some fruitiness In the background. (3.5)
M:
Overly active carbonation, lots of alcohol, relatively thin. (3.5)
O:
This is all right but nothing amazing. It looks as good as could be and is kind of downhill from there.
The aroma is pretty fruity and sweet with some harsh roast. Fairly enticing. When you take a drink there is a sharp roast flavor at first with a drying, tingling alcohol wave that sticks with you for a while and warms going down. It is not bad, but I would definitely like something a little smoother, thicker, and less boozy. It is amazing to me that it tastes as hot as it does from wine barrels, perhaps it's the batch of the stout. I likely wouldn't have this one again. (3.5)

Black with a frothy, dark tan head that laces.
Aroma of red wine, pumpernickel rye bread, molasses and roasted nuts.
Flavours of pumpernickel rye, molasses, roasted nut, light wine tannins and oak. So,I'd bitterness, warming alcohol.
Fairly full body has a drying finish.
