Bottle shared by travlr, thanks again. Mostly clear light gold color with a thin bubbly white head that recedes to a ring. Lemony earthy funk with bits of honey and sweet bread. Pretty tasty

Well, for the 1500th beer I’ve rated or reviewed here, I’m glad I got to enjoy this one. Not sure of the age, but is extremely smooth and balanced. The tart, funk, stone fruit and bitterness combine nicely. A very enjoyable saison - I would absolutely recommend it.

Dirty straw with a light haze, not much head, but it does like to lace.

Nice funk in the aroma (leather, horse blanket and straw), light steelie earth and a hint of tropical fruit.

There’s more tartness than I had expected, and it’s quit nice (not very acidic). I love the funk. Restrained bitterness.

Good, moderate mouthfeel had a crisp finish.

750 mL bottle. Pours a hazy orange with a medium white head. Smells of oak, red wine, some brighter fruitiness. Fascinating. Tastes of tropical fruit up front. Very faint tang from the fruitiness, too. Then it becomes earthy with a distinct tea flavor. The back end has some of the red wine again. Medium light. Complex and dynamic saison. Superb.

Murky, milky, light yellow Fluffy head.. Very tasty and original. A light hoppiness, but a Belgian saison-like yeastiness, citrus, and oak. Light-medium body.

Got on trade! Served at 7deg C in a tulip glass

A- Opens well and pours a tiny 1/4" high white head that films out within 2mins. Medium gold colour and unfiltered

S- Lots of yeast here. Some hops. Nice balance

T- Nice saison. Super yeasty and moldy good. Has a bite to it that is interesting. Not a typical saison as the IPA has an edge to it that is wonderful. The pinot barrel just comes through nicely at the end. Not overpowering.

M- Creamy at first then turning dry.

O- Nice brew. Will buy again if I see it. Super nice blend and nothing that sticks out at you makes this a winner!

Food Pairing

This wonderful little brew went well with....... Palak aloo aka spinach with potatoes Indian style.

Enjoy

a cool beer right here, very expensive but definitely worth it, as i havent really ever had anything like this. its a blended brew, an ipa and a saison i think coming together. one of the beers has guava and tea in it, and both of those elements come through this really well. its also aged in pinot noir barrels, and that red wine aspect is very prominent in both nose and taste of this one. hazy and orange in color, soft looking like most of their other stuff, with a tall and creamy and lasting pure white head on it, another pretty beer in the glass. it smells a little fruity, i get the distinct guava right away, and then an earthy bitterness that i attribute to the tea, but its also rather hop-like, subtle though both of them. there is some acidity here, and it makes my mouth water just smelling it. the red wine tannins and the wild yeast together really get the senses eager to taste this one. in the flavor i get the funk, the sour, and the red wine all right away. the guava and the tea behind that, way behind it, and then the hops, which are very very subtle for having an ipa blended in. i can taste all the elements separately, but the fusion of them together is what makes this beer special. more sour than expected, and an impressive amount of flavor coming from the wine barrels. this is really awesome beer, and these guys appear to be on the rise as one of the better saison producers out there. somewhat of a rarity this one, but if you can find it, its worth grabbing for sure.

edit: after a year or two in the cellar, this bottle was a total gusher, like 8 inches of exploding beer as the cap it popped, and almost a half the bottle volume loss. it still tastes amazing, wine heavy and funky and dry, but careful if you have an older bottle of this, ours went haywire!

I am not used to sours, this is my first.
Golden yellow and very cloudy color. White head with good retention.
Taste and smell:Smells like my homemade beer fermenting. Floral-honey notes
Well its a sour so lemon and green apples. And the IPA hoppy taste is also quite strong.
It is refreshing and easy to drink. Would go for this in summer.
This beer also tastes better as it warms up.
When I have tried a few more seasons I'll readjust this review.

A:
Pours cloudy orange with big three fingers tan head that slowly drops to patchy but substantial cap. Good retention; varied, scummy lacing. (4)

S:
Tart and funky. Lemon, sweet tarts, sulfur, horse musk, old stanky hops. (3.75)

T:
Dry with a touch of tartness and earthy hop base, barnyard tannin-like bitterness, herbal/medicinal hops. (4)

M:
Prickly carbonation, medium body, quick finish, pretty drinkable--but this diminshes towards the end. (3.75)

O:
Good, interesting sour blend of a beer.
There is a lot going on here. This is a fine saison that definitely showcases little bits of its component parts while still being definitely its own beer. The nose is pretty sulfurous and towards the end it got to be a little much. The flavor is much drier and sweatier than the nose would suggest and the nose is more sour than the flavor is. Likewise, by the end the astringent bitterness of the mouth is a little much for a 6.5% saison.
All in all this is a nice beer. However, I definitely prefer its individual components.
Would have again, but I wouldn't seek it out; worth trying. (4)

Big thanks to Kyle.

A - Poured into a hill farmstead tulip a hazy golden hue with a fat one finger white head that fades to leave sudsy lacing.

S - Aromas of light hoppy background, good saison notes, nice soft wine notes, good light funk. Nice light bright citrus.

T - Taste is similar to the nose, light hoppy finish, good saison notes, light wine, good faint citrus, solid funk, really nice funky soft bitterness. Light

M - Mouthfeel is brightly carbonated and dry.

O - Overall this beer was really pleasant. Great wine notes, bright.

750 ml bottle was poured into a snifter.

Appearance: A two finger billowy head was poured that reduced to a puffy layer. It is a slightly hazy golden straw yellow with good clarity and vision of tiny bubbles coming up through the glass. Frothy lacing down the glass as the beer was drank.

Smell: Hay, barnyard, chardonnay grapes, biscuity, pepper, citrus, powdery yeast, green apple, toasted, pale, grassy, spicy, rubber tire, and some oak.

Taste: This beer got tastier as I got to the bottom of the bottle. Funky flavors mellowed out and balanced with the saison beer. Some pucker, tart, chewy, and bitterness notes in there too.

Mouthfeel: Tart, pucker, chewy, light to medium bodied, medium to high carbonation, a bit dry, and some bitterness.

Overall: Will have to say at first the Brett was too much, but as the beer warmed up, the funk mellowed out and balanced with the saison beer. Might have to tell my cousin to bring more of this down from Canada if he can.
