Poured from a bomber into tulip. Attractive dark amber with some opacity. Thick off white head with modest retention but minimal lacing. The aroma of jolly rancher green apple candy is appealing with some funk. Taste falls a little short of the promising aroma, it's ok, well better than ok but Something's missing...mouthfeel is fine, not overly carbonated. Overall enjoyable and good representative of the style. Buy it.

12 oz bottle poured into a darth Vader pint glass.

Pours cloudy amber with a copious head of foam. Aroma is malty with a sour fruitiness. This is a bit thin bodied with a mild malt bite and bitter finish. Not terribly exciting and has a bit of a fruity off flavor. Not recommended.

22oz bomber into pint glass

A- Kind of cloudy dark burnt orange. White-ish small head.

S- Smells of brown sugar and red fruits. A little bit of caramel and brandy round out the nose.

T- Tastes great. Some spices and sweet malts back up this beer's big sour orange juice flavor.

M- Typical for an amber. Nothing special but just right - not too thick and not too thin with non-obtrusive carbonation.

O- I am decidedly picky about ambers. Some, like fat tire, are grossly overrated by the casual beer drinker. This passes the taste test. Distinct from Irish reds, Scuttlebutt's amber ale nails the American amber.
