12oz beer poured into Duvel tulip. Picked up at grocery store as part of a 10 or 11 buck sixer mixer. 09/08/2021 printed on the bottom rim of the can. You have to view it almost perfectly sideways to read it.
Appearance - Pours big 3 finger offwhite head with decent retention, and decent to low lacing and stick. Clear amber brown body. Foamed up immediately after opening despite the can not being agitated prior. 3.75
Smell - Used socks and mild, dank hops. 3.25
Taste - Dank hops, and some decent balancing malt underneath. A little acrid. 3.25
Mouthfeel - Full bodied. Almost syrupy. 3.25
Overall - Not awful but not worth even trying. 3.25

The beer pours a copper amber color with very good head retention and considerable lacing all around. This beer looks good enough. On the nose, the aroma is attractive but unusual. I'm picking up a very perfumy sandalwood aroma, with light onion as well. The flavor profile replicates the nose, but is also fairly dry and lean. The can label states this beer has 100 ibu's, but the bitterness really isn't all that pronounced. Alcohol is very well integrated into the flavor profile, and drinkability is pretty good.
While this really isn't an outstanding ipa, it's a pleasant and easy enough beer to enjoy. Not bad at all.

Currently #25 in the Top New Mexico beers list.
CAN: Nabbed for me in Sante Fe, NM by Judith as part of a sixer - thanks!
Served cold into a pint glass.
A bit yogurty, making me suspect Simcoe was utilized. Pale malts are present but the balance needs work.
Hop profile is uninteresting...floral, a bit fruity, yogurty. Not dialed in, but generally enjoyable.
I don't dislike it - it's a respectable little IPA - but I hoped for better given it's currently rated a top beer in its state of origin.

08/03/18 impression from a can:
Hop profile is dull, but it's not imbalanced. Drifts yogurty, making me suspect Simcoe was used. Oddly hopped for an IPA, but not too bitter.
If this is a top tier New Mexico IPA, then I'm glad I live elsewhere. I guess there's a demographic of New Mexico residents who are into microbrew, refuse to drink anything but local, and haven't heard of La Cumbre?

Thank you 2beerdogs for this
12 oz can poured into a snifter
A- A slightly hazy golden amber with a two finger white head
S- Citrus, hints of tropical fruits, light stone fruits, touch of caramel malts, piney/resin.
T- Citrus, some citrus rind, faint tropical fruits/stone fruits, touch of caramel malts, piney bitter finish, some resin.
M- Smooth, medium body.
O- A solid IPA, easy to drink. Can is almost 4 months old and I wish I had opened it sooner, but it still taste good and fairly fresh with that age.
