Near black color where no light shines through the glass. Light had that leaves little lace on the glass.

Strong bitterness from the burnt malt. It gives a coffee like smell to this beer. There's also some ash to the nose.

Very burnt flavor, one can almost taste the lingering embers. Dry and ashen, this beer epitomizes a dry stout. The aftertaste is astringent and chewy. The carbonation is adequate for the style. Not very coffee like but still bitter from the burnt malt.

Pours black, tan head. Aroma of chocolate and coffee. There is a plenty of roast with underlying subtle CACAO chocolate. This beer is extremely drinkable. Helper Monkey is proof that you don't need to make diesel fuel to make a stout that can be enjoyed. I hope CBC brings this back as a semi-regular offering.
