Belgian-style strong blonde ale. The first Belgian-style beer ever produced in North America, and still an inspiration.

22oz into a large snifter.
A: Pours a murky dark orange with a small white head.
S: Aroma brings yeasty spice, clove, nutmeg, vanilla, lavender, cakey pale malt.
T: Taste brings white cake, nectarine, sweet grain, cloves, small medicinal note, candi sugar.
M: Medium-bodied with medium carbonation, creamy feel.
O: This is pretty nice. A bit too sweet, but not cloying.

From the 750 ml corked bottle in a snifter. This mighty nice little
ale pours a lightly cloudy amber tinged golden color with a nice
head of white foam that settles to a thick ring, thin light layer, and
displays some rather nice sudsy lacing. Nose of phenol laden yeast
notes, sweet candy sugar, and spicy Belgian additions of coriander
with hints of apple and white grapes. Flavors follow the nose with a
nice presentation of the style with a nice light breaded malt awash
in candy sugar with touches of apple, grapes, and subtle banana
with mingling notes of coriander and a touch of clove over light
cracker flavors. Nice mouth feel; medium light body, medium
carbonation that is lively and lightly fluffy, and a nicely done
sweet finish that is lightly spicy and with warmth gives way to
touches of spicy herbal hops.
Overall, an excellent ale.
Cheers!

L -- Pours a slightly hazy straw body with a small white head produced with moderate pour. Pretty bad retention and lacing for the style
S -- Wheat, honey, floral, lemon rind, bready yeast
T -- Slightly oxidized. Sweet honey bread, floral, alcohol esters, tea-like hops
F -- Prickly. Medium mouthfeel, medium+ carb.
O -- Nice sweet tripel that definitely tastes like it's using an American yeast strain. Pretty well executed

This was poured into a tulip. The appearance was a glossy burnt orange color with a slim finger-ed white foamy head that quickly dissipated. Stringy lacing running here and there. The smell had the typical qualities of a tripel - iced apples, slight Belgian spice, allspice, some ginger, spice cake. Really nice. The taste was a nice balance between the spice and the sweetness with a sly sweet grassy aftertaste and finish. On the palate, this one sat between a light to medium in body. Sipping to sessionable quality roaming around the feel. Overall, for the first Belgian styled ale brewed in the USA back in the ’90’s, yeah, this still has it goin’ on. Great stuff, cheers to not reinventing the wheel!

If you are a fan of strong Belgians and do not bow the knee to the hop you will love this beer. A non-hop head dream!
