If you are a fan of strong Belgians and do not bow the knee to the hop you will love this beer. A non-hop head dream!

Pours a hazy pale orange in color with an inch and a half of fluffy white head, decent retention but none of the lacing typical of the style. Spicy coriander, clove, and pepper notes present upfront in the aroma followed by some pear, apple, and lightly bready malts. Taste has the pear and apple upfront followed by a solid bubblegum presence. The spices are subdued and present as clove and pepper in the finish. Medium plus body and carbonation. Overall I enjoyed this beer but found it had a few faults, namely: I expected a bit more clarity, the aroma was a bit subdued, and the body and carbonation weren't quite there. I did quite the flavors here and did find a good complexity in this beer. I think it's a bit more than the sum of its parts and I would certainly enjoy this a bit more were I drinking it more casually and not reviewing.

Me Alewifie says "this is good. This is one I could drink a whole one of." It has that delicious crispness that I so much love.

I thought Tripels were supposed to have a big head, but this most decidedly did not. Poured into a four inch snifter, the froth rose two fingers, but quickly dissipated, leaving a wholesome lace with little surface foam. The color is a light clover honey, not the bright yellow we anticipated.

The smell was sharp but not too bitter.

The phenolic character was present in the smell and taste, with a fruity/estery finish, true to form for a tripel.

This does not taste like a 10% beer! That is the sign of a true tripel, wow.

The mouthfeel is incredible. The estery / fruity character comes out in front, then small bubbles and the alcohol bring a warm curtain down. Very crisp and drinkable. Wow.

Appearance: Pours a hazy golden color with a somewhat disappointing head for the Belgian style - it starts out nicely but quickly fades and only leaves some straggly lacing

Smell: Shortbread malt tones, with apple, pear, peach, banana, bubblegum, coriander and clove

Taste: Shortbread malt flavors create a nice platform, with honeyed sweetness building underneath; a fruit basket of flavors develops, with apple, peach, pear and banana prominent and a slight bubblegum character, too; after the swallow, the spice tones of white pepper, coriander and clover cut the sweetness somewhat though the shortbread resumes its ascendance in the finish

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation and some warmth in the gullet

Overall: Though this beer captures the flavors authentically, like many domestics brewing in the Belgian style, it fails to produce the requisite mouthfeel and look
