Sgt. Pepper is brewed with malted rye, wheat (and barley of course), and fermented with our Belgian yeast strain for its wonderful saison-y spiciness. Flavored with black, white, pink, and green peppercorns

Pours a hazy golden. Estery nose. Get a lot of banana forward notes, almost in the hefe realm, but get a nice underpinning of peppercorns which provide a low level of heat. Solid legacy saison.

Poured from bottle into wine glass good 3-inch head recedes quickly little to no lacing. Burnt golden in the glass, slight haze. Little saison esters on the nose. Taste is peppercorn, pretty assertive, but enjoyable. Body is good

750 ml bottle bought at Liquor Shed, I couldn't find any dating.

Pours a clear gold, head of foam doesn't last long despite my serving st room temperature. Swirling the glass doesn't help. The foam acts more like the fizz when you pour a soda.

Smells of peppercorns, lemon, sweet notes of perhaps candi sugar or honey, maybe a mix of both.

Malty but not so sweet taste up front. What sweetness I get is more honey like than candi sugar and, wham. The peppercorns move in and take over. Nice bit of heat there; light burning on the back of my throat. More sips, more domination of the pepper.

Medium bodied with fairly lively carbonation so..why the lack of foam?

The pluses outweigh the minuses so it's all good. The heat is on and it's good.

Poured a bright orange gold with the smallest of heads that quickly broke leaving little behind.

Smell is dominated by peppercorn and spices. There isn't room for anything else there, and that takes away from this.

The taste is also dominated by the peppercorns and spices. There is a touch of candi that comes along, but those spicy peppercorns just push everything else away.

Feel is about medium weight with medium carbonation. I found the finish a little slick.

Too much peppercorn ruins the beer. It was just over the top and not enjoyable after a few sips.

This was poured into a tulip glass, thinking it was a saison, but after smelling and tasting, this does show enough saison characteristics to proceed in the same glass. The appearance was a semi-dark hazy burnt orange to brown color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than thirty seconds leaving some light messy lacing sliding into the beer. The smell starts off with a strong spicy peppercorn, almost overbearing, but as it warms, light breadiness with some lemon shows up wanting to balance. The taste was mainly spicy with a hotness running into the breadiness and sweet lemon. Peppercorn dominates the aftertaste and allows a quick hot to spicy finish. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a decent sipping quality about it. Carbonation feels fine as a saison or a vegetable beer, whatever one wants to really call it. Overall, I liked this one for me, but if you don’t like "peppercorn" and a lot of it, I probably wouldn’t buy this if I were you. It’s a bit of a palate wrecker.
