Had on tap at CBC, and was I surprised, the color was a clear Irish Setter Red. Ok I wasn't surprised. Low to no head. I thought the aroma was 100% malt, and the taste was also almost all bready malt in flavor. Smooth and easy to drink, would make a good session beer for a pro.

I am trying this beer off the tapper at the brewery as part of a four sample flight. It poured a clear amber with white head that left a spotty lace. The scent had sweet malt and earthen notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with crisp hop and sweet malt presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a good beer.

Draft at Flynn's Mansfield
Medium fizzy off white head with medium to good retention, little lacing, semi clear auburn brown almost chestnut color, much darker than amber
Nose nice sweet toasted caramel malts, fruity possibly malt derived and yeast, caramel toffee little candy
Taste mild sweet like amber reddish malts, toasted, caramel, toffee, touch biscuity, juicy malt, light floral hop bitterness, more fruity both malt and yeast derived tree fruits, little creamy, drier finish, lingering malts
Mouth is med bodied, a little soft creamy, medium carb
Overall a solid amber, nothing special but that's ok with this style

A good amber ale. Mild earthy piney hops, good malts with a toasted bread and caramel toffee flavors.
Balanced toward the malts in flavor and aroma, with a dry crisp finish.
A solid example of the style, happy to drink it!

Poured on draft at the brewery.
Pours a clear deep amber color with 2 fingers of effervescent white head. The head leaves some cobwebs of lacing before settling into a thin halo.
The aroma is very malty, with notes of toasted malt, caramel, and sweet bread before a subtle wave of earthy, piney hops.
The flavor follows the nose. Sweet bread and caramel, with a slightly roasted character backed up by the faintest kiss of hops on the finish.
The feel is medium-light bodied with pretty good carbonation. Goes down smooth, with a crisp, dry finish.
Overall, a very good ale that is well-balanced and clearly well-made. It doesn't blow you away with adjuncts or hops, but it provides a restrained boldness that recalls the early days of craft beer. Highly drinkable and definitely worth a try.

Poured into a becher pint glass.
The appearance was a sturdy looking dark amber color with a slight transparency about it. Carbonation could be seen bouncing at a fair pace upward. Slight cap of a little white foamy head slid off at a nice pace. Some light stringy lace ran here and there.
The aroma blended a nice settling cocoa powder to clean caramel/toffee maltiness. Subtle grassiness came for some balance. Light citrus to floral hoppiness subtly underneath.
The flavor was a nice semi-sweet to bitter quality not fully combined, but seemed quite nice in the overall taste. Mild toast-like to cocoa powder and caramel/toffee aftertaste.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt on par. Nice mobile smooth malty somewhat dusty finish.
Overall, pretty nice amber ale, I'd have this again.

This beer has been so consistent over the past 20 years. It was formulated before the IPA craze. It has a rich toasted malt quality, but is light to medium bodied. Many would complain about the lack of a hoppy quality, but this is by design (in the early 90's). It is easy to drink more than one!
